I had a 72 xlch kick only partial basket case sportster that a guy liked and was willing to trade this 59 Sc for.I'm stoked! Although it distracts me from Speedy right now. I have a spare 1600 dp for it until I build a 2 litre to make it go, it came with a large nut trans and a 71 disc brake front end. It came with all the parts except engine and rear bumper.

Either those pictures were taken on different days, with the Ghia being moved over from one side to the other and after the one piece of windshield glass got flopped to the opposite side, or you've got a flipped image there, Speedy.

Either way, my heart just jumped into my throat. You got that thing in TRADE for a motorcycle? DUDE!

That thing's fantastic!
L was thinking of putting a type 3 swingaxle in the single cab to replace the reduction gear boxes and then thought it would be a good trans for Speedy too, can I just change the axles on the transaxle or do you need to install the whole unit in one piece? I tried to find info on the forum but couldnt find that particular answer, I'm sure its there, I probably didnt search correctly.
Thanks Doug, actually I was thinking more of the 1968 bug swing axle in the Speedster. I think I will change out the single cab trans to a bug swingaxle too or if I can a type 3 transaxle, I might have to switch out the whole swingaxle in the Speedster too, unless I can just change the axles. I have a CMC flared body so I'm not worried abouth the axle length particularly.

The main reason for type 3 swingaxles in both vehicles is higher gear ratios(4.125 : 1) for higher freeway speeds and the larger brakes.
Please excuse Major Brain Fart! I'm multi-tasking too many things at work and forgot the 1968 swingaxle bug trans has the wider drums and the 4.125 ratio already! Although P.O. must have rebuilt it to a 4.37 in which case I think for a 1600dp the 4.125 will be better than the freeway flyer 3.88.
The single cab will get the same 1968 bug trans I think until 2 litre goes in.
