Hey guys should we try nailing down a date and get this in the book. With the miserable winter need something to look forward to. With my move in August I was not able to put the miles on or partake in as many drives as I would have liked. Hope everyone is beginning to thaw out and see ya soon.

Are initial events were based upon Cory and his annual trek to St. Louis. Cory?
Joe. while we have your attention...are you planning on Carlisle this year?
Rich our annual conference is in SanDiego from the 12-15 so it will be tough to make the trip.
I have had some correspondence with Jack Crosby and with Danny P about attending this year. For them it seems the first two weeks in June are good.
I believe we need a vote of the executive committee, which consists of everybody who has ever come to Corn Daze.
I can normally go with the flow and can bend to others needs. I would suggest we pick that weekend without wind, rain and hail.
I will be on vacation from June 11th - 19th, but other than that I am good to go.
What say you, Bob?
I get it if those are the dates but wold not be able to make it, will be in Costa Rica
Well played Tom, I even left out the part we are headed there for my son to compete in a gymnastics meet . A bit over the top but a great excuse to turn it into a family vacation.
Is it driving season yet?
13-14-15 is fine with me.
I'm gonna miss Joey, but that 13-14-15 makes pretty good sense. DannyP - reconfirm, Chris Starleaf? Alan? Cory? Anybody else at this point?
It would be good to get some feedback from last years attendees on how they felt about the two routes, morning and afternoon. We aim to please (well we point in that general direction, sometimes).

Joey:
Deal! I want to work on a different route and you can test it out and report to the "Dazed" about what to expect!.
Got in my calendar for June 7 or 8 depending on your schedule. I can get on the road pretty early and make a fun day of it. Who knows if this weather breaks after I pickup my car I just may wander south.
Joey:
Done and done! Maybe we can get Stan to join in too.
Marty, change your schedule. Don't make me come up there and get you young man!

What the heck is the matter with you big-city boys? Priorities, gentlemen.
Costa Rica, Costa Schmeeka!
Not an acceptable response.
Stan and I have your address and we will kidnap your butt if we have to.
I see Corn Daze Trois is not going to be so easy...but we may get Carl Berry and Danny P. to replace the 2 Chicagoans.
So make it a 10-day event covering two weekends. Everybody can come and stay as long as they want. Problem solved (damn I'm good!)
Boy, how easily we get replaced.
We were also going to bring a Hottie friend for Danny's right seat
We are on vacation from the 9th to the 15th. I'll be with Bernie Madoff in Palm Beach. Oh, never mind I just remembered that he is some NC jail. I heard he is in charge of the slush fund now.
The week before is better for us but no big deal, do what is best for the out of town folks.
Lane, remember what happened at Woodstock? Everyone got all muddy and hungry after a few days...

Lane, that'll be in Sept, when I do Carmel by the Sea and Highway 1. I'll be wearing ruts in I80, eating smoked almonds and staying in flea-bag motels on the way out. Jeanie will fly in and we'll do a nice week on the central coast. She'll fly home, and I'll do the banzai-run back (possibly on I40).
Heaven will be like this.

Stan, send me a PM about this. Inquiring minds want to know.
Maybe Corn Daze Trois could be moved to the Monterey Peninsula?
Boy, how easily we get replaced.
Corn Daze started to coincide with Cory's annual trip to the Peoples' Republic of Stanistan (on his way to St. Louis) in late June/July. Bob is local to me, and he's been invaluable in helping me put together a fun weekend in the 2 yeasrs we've been inviting other guys to join us.
Since Cory is not making the trip this summer, we have an open field in front of from a planning standpoint. Having this event before the last week of June is a very good idea-- otherwise the corn is too high to see around a lot of blind corners on the drives. And there is a LOT of driving involved-- the whole thing is pretty much scenic and speedy driving from little cafe to little burger-bar to little ice-cream stand, etc. We cover a fair amount of miles DURING the event.
From the initial posts, it looked like one of the first two weekends in June were going to work for most of the "regulars". I chose the second weekend for a few reasons, mostly weather related. Early June can be glorious. It can also be cold and rainy. It has often been very, very wet. There are no guarantees, but the further in we get into June, the better the chance of good weather.
There's another factor. June 6, 7, & 8 is a big deal in my little hometown, but perhaps it'd be just the ticket to coincide with Corn Daze.
Every year, first weekend in June, Tremont hosts the annual "Tremont Turkey Festival". Think "county fair" on a more personal and "micro" level, and you've got it. We're the oldest town festival in the area (this one will be 49 years). There's a carnival, bed-races, etc.-- but the big thing is the food. Spit-roasted turkey sandwiches, strawberry shortcake, etc.-- all very, very good. This little festival draws a LOT of people-- we are cooking over 1500 whole turkeys a year now. There's a little bitty car-show on Sunday, which I can make sure we are pre-registered for.
The whole thing is a kind of small-town Americana which is lost to 99% of you. We are usually involved with food prep for a few hours on Saturday-- but thinking this over, having Corn Daze 3 overlay it would be a hoot. We could take an hour or 2 on Saturday evening to get a turkey sandwich, some strawberry shortcake, and listen to whoever is on the main-stage.
I think you guys would love it. If it's doable for Bob, and the Chi-town boys can GUARANTEE they'll be there (I'm talkin' to you, Joe Fortino), we'll make it happen.
What say you, gentlemen?
I'm good, whatever.

Thanks for the passionate endorsement, Bob.
"whatever"
I am in for the 6th - 8th and the festival sounds like a great tie in. As one of the guys with a schedule conflict I truly appreciate the effort to Work on the dates.
Sorry. I actually think it will be a fun weekend. Tremont is a great little town at the edge of Stanistan, but outside the Palace walls. We could create the HQ at one of the chain hotels in Morton, just a short distance away, and cruise out in probably 3 or 4 directions from there as well. Plenty of local restaurants and lots of great roads.
If the weather is good, it's perfect. If the weather isn't good, there's euchre.
It's true... By July, the corn is as high as an elephants eye...
Sorry, I'll put myself in time out.
Ted
It's true, we're probably not in for this year. There are several different events we will be attending, but the St. Louis run isn't happening until October; looks like we're getting married on the 18th in Ellisville, Missouri.
Good call on the corn and blind corners. But for you guys on the fence (who haven't been to Stanistan), I have never had more fun DRIVING at an even than we did cutting loose and just letting the car eat last summer.
There's a lot to be said for taking those 90-degree corners at a field's edge at speeds where your seat bolsters really have to do their jobs -- and Stan's got to be right up there with Kelly Frazer as one of the best drivers in the SOC for that kind of driving.
If I could throw the Speedster in a suitcase and fly out, I'm sure Jeni and I would be there. We just have too much going on to take the five days needed to drive out and back. Count us in for shirts, though.
And those Midwestwen cats know where to go for food and drink, too. That steakhouse was fantastic!
Oh, good, Marty and Sandy can make it ...another room in the B&B taken (?).
Maybe I better check-in before it's all booked up.
