Hello David.
There are 3 different types of widebodies and 2 of them are available from Vintage Speedsters in Hawaiian Gardens, California. Kirk, at Vintage, sells the superwide body, which is what I have and a midsize widebody. The 3rd type of widebody is from CMC, who has been out of business for several years, but there are a lot of them around. If you look closely, you'll see that the flairs on the CMC widebody have a different look than the Vintage versions, but they are still very nice. Whether they will fit on your VW pan depends on how it was shortened, but Kirk can answer that for you. Good luck and keep us posted (with pictures) if you start a project.

StreetBeasts is apparently back in the Speedster business (they are on again off again it seems) as the successor to CMC. They build a "C" for california wide body and a classsic standard body. They are located close to you in Miami, FL. Do search here on some of the StreeBeast builds (Alan Merklin aka DRCLOCK - a very experienced builder - built one and faced some real challenages - despite that the end result was a real winner though) and google StreetBeasts. I suspect your shortened frame will be several inches too short - Speedsters takes about 10-11" shortening which the Myers takes like 14-15". I guess if you can shorten a frame though - you can lengthen it too.

You can pick up an unfinished kit or one needing work for 20-50% of what a new kit might cost.
