I'm looking for a trailer to haul the Speedster once-in-awhile.
Umm, light weight aluminum, any one with experience?

I'm also in the market for a nice trailer. Do you have any info on the manufacturer, phone number/web site.

Aluma brand trailers .
Previous to this trailer I had two other open trailers and found this Aluma to be perfect for speedsters and other smaller vehicles I've hauled T' Bucket roadsters, VW Beetles and in a pinch a heavier
'97 VW Jetta that did fine on the trailer .
I have a 2002 Aluma Model # 64133 the empty weight is 515 lbs
Gross registered weight is 2,990 .... minus the 515lb empty weight it net available cargo weight 2,474lbs .
Torsion single axle instead of a leaf spring set up. 14 inch tires on white wagon wheels, no need for trailer brakes as it is super light to tow and stop.
I removed the front section of the 1-1/2 x 1-1/2" square aluminum tube to allow the speedster to be loaded a bit farther forward...no need to alter the trailer like this if you have a stock height speedster. The rear loading gate style ramp set had a lot of wind resistance, I removed it and tig welded a set of aluminum 5' ramps that are stored under the rear of the trailer....made a set of 3' 2 x 12 wood plank "starter ramp" for use with lowered speedsters.
List was $2,475...I paid $2,200.
See the Aluma web site at www.alimaltd.com
I may sell the one I have in the near future, I am looking into getting an enclosed snow mobile style trailer that has a light weight lift up aluminum top for loading and tie down strap access.

I saw Alan's trailer set-up and let me tell you, it's a winner. Light weight is the key. I had a 2000lb trailer from Uhaul. Yes a single car trailer and it felt like I was pulling Dumbo the Elephant and not Fern the Speedster.

Alan, email me if you decide to sell your trailer. Thanks Eddie
Yes,
I have an "ALUMNA" all aluminum open trailer that is 82" x 12'
It has the same type of deck surface as a roll back truck.
I haul this 525lb empty weight single axle trailer with a 2003 S-10 and still get 22 MPG while towing! I removed the forward 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 square stock front "guard" to allow the Speedter to be loaded forward a bit since the engine is in the back.
The car fits onto the trailer fine and trailers i.e. tracks very well.
I paid approx $2,800 for the trailer and it has paid me back with the gas mileage that I get due to the super light weight of an all aluminum trailer vs. a steel 1300 lb one.
I highly recommend this for Speedsters!
