Looking for constructive criticism

Had my son paste colors onto the model and color of the speedster John is building for me. I think that the gray top will be darker than my son shows. Question is " black top vs gray top and should I go a darker gray interior than what is on the pics now

Go with the gray. It matches everything else when down in the stow position. And anyway, I doubt it will be up much anyway. It doesn't rain in Simi Valley much.

Dave I thought about blue also. Havee to have my son try that color.

I'll agree with gray.

Sorry guys but to me a grey top looks like a badly faded black top. Dark Blue is the way to go but Black is a close second.

Grey, it completes the speedy in a very stylish way.Black is a standard color , any time you can use a different color and it works go that route just my 2 cents. Cabanaboy

I like the grey - thought I'd hate it, but it looks very nice. Not to jump threads on you - but what is that lovely white car in the background? Looks front engined...

Angela, are you talking about the little go cart? That's been at John Steele's shop for a while.

Dark blue would be my choice. Then use the dark blue as your accent piping on the seats. For fun, use the gray for your tonneau cover.

Grey looks good - you could always dye it black once you're tired of it!

Gerd, I think that a dark blue top would set off your paint sweet! then use the dark blue on your pipe line sitching on your seats! awesome combo. I have red seats with black piping w/ black top! a very sweet combo I must say! LOL.. BUT after all it is YOUR ride and whatever you do I am sure all of us here will support your disicion, of course we will also have some fun at your expense too! It's all about family! I was gonna suggest the grey top, but I think I like David's suggestion. Dark blue top and grey seats with blue piping - yeah, that's sweet.

Here's an idea of blue on blue.

What color code or name is that exterior blue?

I am not sure. My father just bought the car and will be picking it up in a couple of weeks. I'll see what I can find out.

I vote for the grey. Goes with your trim and the contrast is not so extreme with the lighter royal blue body. The black and the dark blue look better on a darker car.

Although, what do I know? My car is green.

You can't go wrong with black.

Here's the good news. In the grand scheme, the color of the top really doesn't matter. I've had my Speedster for a couple months and I've yet to put the top up.

i have made some final decisions on the exterior color as well as the interior
I am going with the blue outside as well as the gray interior
the piping (is that spelled right) will be darker gray.
the top will be blue, the short cover will be gray and I am waiting on the full cover for either the blue or gray after I see the top and the short cover.
question --- gray carpet or black carpet?

I'm a fan of the curtains matching the carpet. If the top and tonneau are different colors, I'd go with the tonneau color, since you're going to see the carpet more clearly with the top down than you will through the side curtains.
Echoing Dr. Jones, though, what do I know? Mine's topless and has aluminum carpet!
