I'm looking for a pair of amber fog lights (not too expensive) to use as a 'running' light. Saw these on Samba. What do you think? They're sealed beams, so if they burn out the whole glass light has to be replaced..right? Any other sources for 'vintage' style lights?

David, Bruce and Ron, thanks for the replies. David, at $90 a pair I'm worried about getting replacement seal beams, and usually anything from the U.S. is doubled by the time I pay the exchange, duty and taxes and still more taxes. Bruce these look like a great deal! What is the shell made of? Just over $30 for the pair is a great price. I'd like to see a picture of them on your car.
Ron, I checked California's site out yesterday and they showed 'sold out' for now. I might check out Air Speed to see if they have any.
Merry Christmas all

Ron O,

An early Christmas present. I took a few photos of one of the driving lights and a mounting bracket this morning and posted them below. There is one more photo in my file. Measurements are 5" diameter by 2.5" deep. Brackets are made to mount lights to bumpers. I haven't decided to mount the bumpers to the car or leave them off therefore have not decided how I want to mount the lights yet. My wife came into the cold garage this morning in her robe to hold the lights up to the front of the car for reference.....she's a keeper!

Let me know if you need additional info. By the way, they have several other lights on that site and these particular lights in amber too.

Happy Holidays!!

I found these units at Rocky Mountain VW parts. About 65 bucks with the mounting brackets to mount on bumper supports. I found replacement sealed beam bulbs, sort of a miniature head light, at the local parts house for about 9-9 dollars. Replacements are available in Clear or Amber. The bulbs look pretty standardized in this style of lamp.

Bruce, I haven't purchased a set yet. Spending most of my spare time getting my 911 pickup into the body shop, getting my 914 seat installed etc, etc. The Price sure seems right, and really, I only want the lights for show, so it doesn't really matter that they are sealed beams. California Imports does offer a pair of old 'Hella' style fog lights for a very good price, but I haven't looked at them close-up, and last time I checked they were out of stock. They do look nice on Dale's car, though.
