With a handle like Spartan, being a Michigander, I had to look your location up.

@Marty Grzynkowicz he's in your neck of the woods.

Marty has the finest IM convertible D you'll ever see. However, you'd have better luck making an offer on his wife, which if you meet her, you'll also realize is way out of your price range :-)

A great couple and ardent Speedster lovers.

The price is lofty but you can call and haggle.  Rusty's car would be a better deal for sure.   I run H2O.

It's standard fare for somebody to pipe up with a "$64K?!?!" comment about this point, so it might as well be me.

$64K?!?! Sixty-four thousand smackeroos buys a lot of automotive love in the big marketplace, but apparently not at "The Last Detail". $64K there buys a putty gray "D" with a 1776 and VW front suspension. I love my car, but I'm under no illusions.

Rusty's car (in one of the colors he was looking for) is a far better deal.

I remember one of our list guys buying a 2003 with 10K miles not so long ago which needed all kinds of sorting.

By the way, the exchange rate between Can and USA is driving the Can prices up due to many parts coming in from the USA.  Having said this any USA buyer should consider that he should be able to do better getting a new IM than a used one if the USA market continues to go a little looney tunes as these cars, here, are being priced.

I mean the USA currency is nearly a 30% greater value than a Can $...

Say a USA car sells for $50K that is 65K in canadian dollars,  for a used car, 10 years old and 10 year old leather drying out or whatever else has dryed out.. It is no deal in my books.  So your gettin awfully close to getting a new build.

I am presuposing obviously and talking to those who have previously owned a speedster/roadster so that they know what they are getting into.

Just saying.

Hi Spartan, like I said if you can't get into a car for a reasonable price then your too close to new price to not build one.  Remembering that the sorting out cost could be many thousands.   Henry is a great builder... My first IM was used 5years old I knew after having it for 5 years that it was a keeper, and my second was custom built new.  2014-2015 ...

Lots of options that could make the car go up in price but you can build a more stripped down model for less.  Keeping in mind the basics like the power you want from the get go.  Even if you buy used if you do not get the engine you want doing it twice is a lot more costly.

In my books ... a good used IM should be the engine you want as the base factor.  Upgrades, are simply UPPING the price

The guys above are very experience and can help you in your quest for the perfect toy

If you can sit low and your head is below the windshield get a speedster if not get a roadster.  My first experience in a speedster at 70mph for 30 minutes, left my hair follicles crying for the next hour. But I have hair

Some of us don't have to worry about that...

Yup. Some of us don't have a head. I look out of my a$$ most of the time.
