She's gone.

Somewhere in the middle of Pacific Coast Highway, possibly near Laguna Beach, CA possibly lies my hubcap crest from my 2005 Vintage Speedster. Why it chose to abandon me last week I will never know. It didn't even say goodbye.

My heart was set to spend the rest of our lives together, loving, caressing, and polishing like no other crest before. Like a short farewell note hastily written on the naked hubcap were the 3 mounting studs and remnants of the stud bases. No indication of it ever returning on it's own. I don't know what it was that I had said, did or even didn't do, I know I will never see it again.

I know now I must go on no matter how much it hurts. I must look forward to be complete again.

If you happen to see it, let it know I will accept it back unconditionally with an open heart, and that I am willing to change the errors of my ways and also to provide a safer and more secure place to reside.

Description:

Born in 2005. She is really quite young but looks much closer to 57 years old.

She was quite thin but approx. 60mm round where it counts.

Last seen dressed in red and black and trimmed with gold.

Bear in mind she left without her 3 studs, (I knew she had them, it was her own well hidden little secret), she might be traveling alone.

She often presented herself as German but her origins are likely from the orient.

I am open for adopting another crest to fill the gap in my life. If you know of a crest that needs a new place live please let me know. Sometimes they have been found residing in cardboard boxes like the homeless dwellings in lesser spoken corners of the city. I promise to provide and care for it. It is my purpose. I know I can love again.

Please, Single crests only, no married crests.

Jimbo.

If your spare is from the same batch that you gave me one from, it probably has Porsche on it, which is very hard to come by these days.  The crests that Vintage and probably most everyone else supplies do not have Porsche on the top of the shield.  It would probably be unnoticeable, but never the less not a match.

The crests with out Porsche are available from lots of different suppliers.

Start with SoCal imports, but they were out of them a few weeks ago when I ordered a set of nipple hubs.  The trick to keeping them on is putting about a dime size of silicon sealer on the back and then mounting them on the cap with the clips.  That also prevents rattling, which only dogs can hear, but never the less....

Well, here is an update on the runaway crest saga.

I found on Socalimports webpage reproduction nipple hubcaps with the "Porsche" logo on the crest for $27.00 each. A few other sites had the crests only for $35 or more without a hubcap. Since my missing crest did not have the "Porsche" logo, I opted to purchase a new set of 4 caps so all would match, I and would be complete again.

The order was placed on 3-12-14 and the package arrived today 3-25-14 from only 50 miles away. Shipping was free by the way. I would have driven over to pick them up but sometimes I get a little lazy. (when I get super lazy I wear a cape.)

I had called the the day before they were shipped to see where the order was since I had not received a tracking number. I was told they were back ordered and didn't know when they were to arrive. Amazingly they were shipped the following day. Go figure.

The caps are nice for repro caps and packed well in tons of foam popcorn. The included crests were not installed on the caps.

Oh, now I remember why I was posting this. The 4 crests that I did received do not have the "Porsche" logo on them. They are the same size and design as the ones on my 2005 Vintage speedster. The quality is equal to the ones already on the car.

I could have gotten away with ordering just one.

I used one of the matching crests and installed it on the speedster with a little silicon to keep things together. I now have some extra caps.

Anybody need some nipple caps? I have 4 nipple caps and 3 "logo-less" crests available. Lemme know.

BTW, when you register on their website they will respond immediately with a promo code. Mine was NEWCUST5. I didn't see the email until after my order was placed. It might be for a discount or maybe a trip to the Bahamas. I don't know.

Thanks for all the responses and insights.
