In 1970 I moved to California at the wheel of a '57 Speedster, a very late version which already had the '58 teardrop tail lights. It was a leaf green color, had factory racing buckets and a radio cut into the dash by a former owner, had a dent in the nose, and a fair amount of body, hinge, and pan rust. In 1976 I sold the car to a guy (named Troy if I remember) who owned a classic car body shop in Oakland. He supposedly sat on it for several years and resold it. I no longer have any paperwork on the car so have no record of the serial number.

For my own curiosity I would like to contact the owner to find out what happened to it. I would also like to fill him/her in on the history of the car.

If this is a real one then I would sign up for the "talklist" on 356registry.org and see if anyone can help you?

You might want to set up a free yahoo account first and then register for the talk list using that email, or you will have a large number of emails clogging up your regular email
Thanks for the replies. Yes, it was a real one. The key reasons I let it go was that I didn't really have the money to do it right (whoever got it had their work cut-out). And then, add in all of the blood, sweat and tears, I would have been paranoid to drive it around other cars and trucks, buses, etc. I would definitely go the kit car route today. If something happens it's replaceable.
