I own a '57 VW Bug and I'm interested in purchasing Porsche Speedster style seats for it. My goal is to build a period correct hot-rod VW (e.g. 356 brakes, Okrasa engine, etc.) As you might imagine, I have a few questions.
First, how well do the fiberglass seats hold up? There are steel, and even aluminum repro speedster seats for sale, but they're substantially more expensive than the fiberglass ones.
The only comment I could find comparing seats was between JPS and Vintage Speedsters (apparently VS seats are cut down 914 seats).
Does anyone have any comments amount other manufactures? Fibersteel, perhaps?
Regarding install, I would like to do as little drilling, welding, etc. as possible. Are there mount brackets I can just slide in?
Lastly, I live near SF (San Carlos). Would anyone be willing to let me sit in their car for a minute or two?
