Looking for a reproduction rear-view mirror, with clamp, rod, and whatever I need to fix it at the top and bottom. I've been through nearly all the parts sites I can find - and can't locate a unit.
Any ideas?

Has the rod and mirror for $40 but you'll pay $20 for flat shipping. Vintage Speedsters has the mirrror for $50 plus the cost of the rod and shipping
..... See my parts lists in Classified. I do have a new rod for $15 shipped.Alan

Thanks man.
Yup, found the mirror and rod - but looks like I still need the top / bottom mounting parts. Doesn't look like VSP sells these.
This must be a common part / upgrade. Surprised someone doesn't sell an out of the box solution.
Ooops yeah check with Beck/Special edition too.
Man, love this forum for finding parts.
Let me report back in for anyone else that may be looking in future...
Vintage speed replied. If you buy the mirror (part #W1103A) the mounting hardware comes with it (included). The mirror and rod cost $39.90 + $20 shipping domestic. ($59)

Beck appears to have a slightly nicer mirror with rod and all hardware for $69.90 +$10 shipping. ($79)

Contact Brad for invoice for both mirror/rod - brad@beckspeedster.com
(Vintage vs Becks):
You're in Philippines though - some US suppliers won't even ship overseas guess due to customs. Doesn't that increase shipping greatly? I've not ordered from VintageSpeed parts but the shipping is for entire order (except for oversize/over weight items like windshields).

It really varies.
In the PI we have something called balikbayan box. you can stuff them full of whatever you want (no weight limit) and ship them over freight for around $40 - $80.. No customs or duties. The downside is it now takes about 2 months. So I use an address in states for that - and shop car parts / amazon etc. ship 3x a year.
But for this rebuild - yeah, it hurts... my mechanic is working now, and he's pretty busy with other customers. Not many VW mechanics around here. So I've had to ship a lot over via air Fedex. I think I just ordered $2,300 usd worth of stuff and my air shipping bill was around $450... but they were big items - sidewinder, muffler, doghouse cowling, steering wheel etc etc.
Typically shipping runs around $40 and up to the corrupt customs officials for what they want. Sometimes as little as $5 other times can be near price of item.. Mostly pretty small tho.
There's no magic to the mirror itself. I used a motorcycle handlebar mirror (IIRC from a Kawasaki shop) and made the mount bar in my shop. Looks like the original 356 mirror with a classier mount on the windshield strut.

That's cool. Whatever works for you - sure it saved you some money.
For me, I'm a newbie when it comes to fixing up my car - so I was looking for an easy solution. Because I ship overseas the worst scenario is to get the mirror and bar and then find I'm missing some stupid $3 part - have to wait weeks to get it.
I ended up buying from Beck Speedster - he answered my emails with 20 min and shipping label created within moments of purchase... Too easy.
