Hello All - Anybody happen to have or know of a pair of speedster seats available, prefereably with upper and lower rails/adjusters for my (early) IM. I checked with Kirk at VS who has nice seats but his pricing has gone up to $425/ea. not including rails with adjustors ($40 additional for each for those). Russ at Fibersteel has some that he makes his out of Steel reinforced fiberglass so they are stronger but...they are $495 for BARE FRAMES if I heard right. The early IM's (VW pan based) are pretty tight for seating area so the seat width has to be no wider than 20". Mine are very old style with the long seat cushion and are losing their shape (not comfortable)Thanks!

Hey Dutch,
At that price, you should look into getting yours recovered. I'm sure that would be much less expensive.

Have you thought about just having them reupholstered/rebuilt?
Most will restuff/form them, and if not then you don't want them to do the work. just in my experience, if they can't then they can't reupholster my seats and thank god.
pros can and I don't want a looks good job, I want a holy cow.

Maybe find out who upholstery VS seats and use them?
I use a local guy/family for all my needs, They do the OMG work on everything they do. I think for his work he is more then fair and does it all, and it's always perfect.

I should add that it doesn't say that he does autos , but he will.
Dutch,
I do have a set of seats but they are what some refer to as the comfy seats. They are 'tan' and in very nice shape just sitting in my basement.

Porsche 914 seats fit perfectly. I was able to score just the 914 bottom cushions thet fit into my existing VS seat shells and used the same seat covers I had to start. VERY comfortable!

I would look for new foam - it gets old and crumbly over

As a newby, I am impressed with the response I received to my seats inquiry. I would like to thank all who responded and look forward to a long time participating on this site. This site and the members really makes speedster ownership what it should be. Cheers all and happy cruising!
