Hello Lisaatt,

I'm going to assume that you didn't mean to offend anyone. What is it that you don't like about a replica? With the costs of original speedsters well above 150-250k, they are an afordable way to own a dream car.

If the goal is to provide something for your father to wrench on, an older replica may offer the best of both worlds.

Have a good day and happy hunting,
Ted

Ted!  What are you doing?  I don't need anyone else competing with me for used replicas, but if he wants to buy one from me, I have a really nice, very classic looking, silver/red one for sale.

Sorry, Troy.

You have an uncanny knack of locating and buying needy replicas better than any man I know.  I still don't know how you do it.

Post some photos of your silver and red beauty.

Ted

I can see where he got impression we had the real thing:

Lisasatt- Unfortunately, you won't find many cars with Porsche vin #'s here.  Although our mission statement says "...members include owners of original 356 Speedsters and every known replica Speedster and Roadster", you'll find that the P crowd pretty well looks down on our affordable, extremely fun to drive and half-way reasonable to modify and repair plastic abortions. Pity, really, as we love them for the same reasons they were drawn to their cars....

Hey, is that a roll of cash in your pocket or are you just happy to be with us.  You will need a really big one to buy an original.  I wonder sometimes, standing our ground, that we get a little provincial about our replica world.  But that's fine with me.  If somebody has 125 - 250K for a beautiful original P-car, more power to them.  I'm good with plastic and modern innards.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm of the understanding that just the vin # is worth 40 or $45,000. If it's a Speedster, they can just about build around it. I believe a numbers correct, concours pushrod engine'd Speedster sold for $400,000 recently.

I was planning to take photos and do the drive video yesterday, but it rained.  I'll try to get a couple of driveway shots this evening if there is enough light when I get home.
