I love this site !

Im looking to purchase a speedster within the next 2 or 3 months. I have looked at the web page for the 356 at Vintage Speedsters and I like the options and what that site has.

Does anyone know of a used 356 or new one in the state of North Carolina?

Im willing to drive to see one in person.

Would someone on this site mentor me through the process of finding one and asking the right questions?

I appreciate any response !

Many Thanks,

Bob

Ouch - don't call them a 356 - that is a registered Porsche model name!

Did you read "Ready for a Speedster Replica?" at begining of this section? Then check out the Classisfieds here on the Forum. CRHEMI has a gards red wide body with tan interior and chrome Fuchs wheels local to me here in Northern VA.

Wait 5 months (May 21-23) and go the Import/Kit car shaw at Carlisle, PA and see 50+ owners rides. Several of the builders are there too --- Beck and IM for sure.

Robert---what are you thinking? Have you lost your freaking mind?? RUN while you still can!!

Anyway "welcome to the madness" you are embarking on a wonderful journey.

I found my Speedster on ebay not too far away--a very easy transaction.

You have to check out the section for "makers"--just click the tab at the top of the home page.

I have had airplanes and motorcycles and I'm having more fun with my Speedster.----Jack

ps--I used to live near Cameron Village in Raleigh and my son lives in Wilson.
Welcome to the Madness, Robert!!!!! As Wolfgang (Greg) said, read "Ready for a Speedster Replica?". That will answer a lot of questions, and raise some more that you need to address before you jump into this.

I used to live just south of Regency Park in the Danbury development on Penny Rd. in Cary. Wonderful town to live in. And you could link up with the southeast caravan to Carlisle next May. That's the best place to compare makes and talk to manufacturers. Plus it's a hell of a lot of fun.
Bob,
The only reason to hesitate would be due to your own financial decisions. I read about these cars for a couple of weeks; flew out to CA for the Paso Robles event and looked them over; and met this bunch of crazies; bought mine over the internet 4 weeks later. I have motorcycles, Ferraris, Jaguars, Corvettes, etc, and this is still about as much fun as any car you can own (and LOTS less $$). Take a short vacation and come out to Morro Bay in April. You will have too much fun and learn about the cars and people.

I hope to see you there.

Happy Trails,
Dusty and the LMS (Lovely Miss Sharon)
Robert,

All I can say is do a lot of research and ask lots of questions before you buy. Lots of folks here have different reasons for pushing a specific brand or style or both but it all comes down to YOUR taste, ability to turn wrenches, and wallet.

The last one is a BIG limiting factor for many including me even though I'm in the middle of a very high end build. Like my Dad used to tell me, " You can have 90% of the fun for 10% of the money, the other 10% of the fun will cost you 90% of the money".

Remember the most important thing is as a friend of mine says is to have "Fun with Cars!"

Welcome!
