I just like to see and drive what I am purchasing before I commit to it. If I purchased one say in California I would have to deal with shipping it here and would not be able to see it before hand. I may end up doing that anyway since finding one in this are may be hard to do.

Buying a car sight unseen is a leap of faith, I grant you. But, if you have a local (to where the car is) mechanic check it out, and you can develop a comfort level for the seller, it may be the only way to get what you want. You may find a car nearby, but you will have to make so many compromises for that, it may not be worth it. There are just so many other choices if you don't geographically limit yourself. I bought one car from a seller in Arizona over the internet (sight unseen); and I flew to Texas to see (and ultimately buy) another car. Both turned out just fine. If the car was built by one of the better builders, that is also a serious consideration. I'd have much less of a problem taking a chance with a car built by IM or Beck or any of the other major builders than a "professionally assembled" car. And, if you get serious about a car from a distance, for a few hundred bucks you can fly almost anywhere to see it and drive it. Remember, looking is supposed to be part of the fun too. Good luck.
