Definitly a buyers market right now! Somewhat kicking myself over that $22k Subbie powered arrest me red one from week ago!
Some one better snag that deal now !
What's that? Bill D. is tipping over the family cookie jar :)

I'll agree - HOLY CRAP! Too bad they posted such useless small pics. I think that one sat at Exclusive Motors for several years. It's one of the early ones before several improvements were made, but it's still an incredible deal.
WOW! Even drives on the ceiling!
I'm a little dizzy from all the blood rushing to my head but it looks like and early IM.

What problems did the early ones have?
Lane--what improvements were made after this car? You are right it's still a huge bargain. Georgeous car.---Jack
The went from an add-on turn signal lever to an integrated one utilizing what looks like a Brazilian VW's steering column. That's the most noticeable. Since mine they've also added an emergency access port in case your hood latch jams (got the idea from a situation I had, actually). They've been doing constant small improvements every year including more original looking seats, and other things like that. They have been good about listening to the customers and upgrading as appropriate. I doubt that any of the changes would be an issue. Most could be retrofitted if the buyer wanted to.
I'm not aware of any real problems with the early ones, Manny. At that price I'd say go for it.

Wow...
I'm almost ready to sell my second kit, convert some Euros and go for this one. Then I could sell the new engine, pop in an Audi waterpumper and have it done by the end of this Summer and STILL come out ahead.....

Manny,
Are you asking about the early Beck (first post) or the early IM (second post)?

I was checking on the Beck. This seems like a great deal but he's in NC and I'm in CA. There are a lot of good cars out there right now. I am working on the finances still but I've got the "bug",......... I mean speedster.
It's a buyers market out there no matter what the item is. Cash is King.

For 15K, you could mod it to your hearts content, and still have less than 20 into it. Somebody from here better buy it NOW!
Yeah, that really is an incredible bargain.
Anyone know how the Becks are licensed, do you have to smog them like you would a 2004 car??? California is kind of picky.
I don't know about California, but I'll bet Warren White can tell you. In SC they just licensed it as a '57 Beck. Of course SC doesn't inspect ANY cars.
For the life of me I can't figure out why that car has not sold.
These days this is an investment. Buy it, drive it and wait for the economy to revive a bit, you'll surely make a killing reselling this one! ~Alan

If you can register it as a 57 then no problem, but CA would probably not go for that. So????
It was only a matter of time!

Boy, the owner had me send a few parts and mentioned he was selling it on ebay, but I missed the listing. Someone STOLE that thing!! I sold it as a kit, but after driving it at Carlisle (04 I think) I had the owner ship it to my shop and I sorted out a few things he had done wrong. IIRC it had a CB 1915cc (125) & a Rancho performance box.
Lane hit the major changes. Column is the same, but we went to a new harness and turn signal mechanism w/ self canceling turn signals, integrated hazards, better horn button contacts, and self parking wipers. Seats are now speedster replica, carpet is upgraded, cloth material is better, rear window is thicker, and there have been a lot of little changes like switch positions, bezels, and various minor parts changes. We are constantly making changes to improve the quality of parts, which is a MAJOR headache at times...

Regarding CA: If it came from a SEMA state and is registered as the year it replicates, I have seen CA accept that and just do a simple title transfer and make it smog exempt. If it is registered as new, then you have to go the SB100 route to make it smog exempt.
When I first saw it listed, I should have hit the "Buy It Now",
oh well... ~Alan

Tom has decided to come out with his own line of Speedster replicas appropriate for the current economic climate. Based on the $2000 Tata Nano (heh heh, he said ta ta), the new Speedsters will be aimed at those who want modern mechanicals, but can't afford a SAS, Watermeccanica, or water-cooled Beck. Pictures at 11:00.

More on the Tata (heh heh) Speedster: President and CEO Tom Raymond announces 0-60 time of under 6 (minutes) for standard model. Performance modem (Tata D-cup) reduces that to under 5 (minutes) by addition of second wind-up spring. Pictures at 11:05.
......and will be sold exclusively through your local Tupperware lady, has a water tight snap on sealing lid to keep the occupants dry !
