I was wondering what is the torque for the main nut that holds the splined steering hub on?
Also, that nut didn't have a washer, lock washer or even any locktite on it, should there be something?
I was thinking of drilling and tapping a hole for a set screw as a little insurance.
I have a new replacement splined hub, and want to know any info before installing it.
I live in a place with very twisty country roads, so having a solid steering wheel is kinda important.

Most installations I,ve seen use a "wave" type lock washer......Not sure of specific torque..... I usually use the blue Locktite and torque it down pretty hard....
OEM steering wheels have a wavy lock washer under the securing nut. I tried to find one on Wolfsburg West and CIP but couldn't find.

That's my problem, the loose nut is on the wrong side of the wheel.
Even if I can source a wavy washer, I'd have to make the hole in the hub that goes between the splined hub and steering wheel bigger to make room for it. Not a problem.
I'll check with McMaster Carr. It's amazing the **** they carry.
Steering wheel hub nut torque is 30-35 ft lbs and steering wheel to hub nuts/bolts are 7 in lbs max if it is an aluminum hub so it doesn't get stripped out by over tightening.
This is pretty standard torque measurements for most cars/light trucks no matter the mfg unless otherwise stated.
