Was having a problem downshifting from 3rd to 4th, it would grind
Then, later as i was driving shifting from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd was not there, nothing the engine just reveved. So i shifted to 4th. Then later that day, stick froze several times and i couldnt move the shifter at all. Then it started popping out of 3rd. So Im getting a new tranny. You guys were right, these cars are money pits, but god i love to drive it

Before you order a trans...check these problem areas out.

* Check the conditition and tighness of the trans shift rod universal inside of the rear tunnel area?

* Check for excessive shifter play ?

a) Loose shifter 13mm bolts ?

b) Worn nylon shift rod bushing inside the tunnel rearward of the shifter ?

I agree with George. I got mine from Rancho and just told them what I expected for power and the ratio's I wanted and they spec'd the rest. Price was pretty reasonable, too.

I gave them my old one as a core and they even packed the new one specially for private shipment (I picked it up as I wanted to see their shop and brought it home to the East Coast in a trade show truck - another story!).

Good bunch of guys who do a LOT of tranny's (many of which go overseas).......
