Hi, all....Remember TC?  Remember he was building a Fiat 600 on a severely shortened VW pan?  Well, during one of the windy snowstorms we've had in Massachusetts recently, a large tree fell on his project crushing it flat.  Since that was the last of his projects tying him to VWs (He is currently concentrating on an MGB) he is selling off all of his VW and Speedster stuff - ten years accumulation of "wicked good junk", a partial listing is below (I may just have to visit him as this is only a partial listing and all of it is, according to TC, IN "PISSA GOOD CONDITION'!":

Found some aluminum Wheel/Drum skinz if you know anyone with wide fives looking for a nice up-date.

I have a set of '67 front and rear drums which mount perfectly to later small four spindles and rear axle splines if you know of anyone wanting to make the conversion AND use the drum skinz.

Also have a pair of four to wide five adapters if you know of anyone brave enough to run them on their front four lug rotors along with wide five wheels and the drum skinz.

Their safety be damned, I'm just looking to sell some drum skinz, obviously !

Also have a set of chromed wide five wheels, and a set of chromed four lug wheels with great tires and nipple Porsche-style caps (with REAL 356 emblems on them.)

Got HD sway bars with urethane mounts, front and rear

camber compensator for the swing axle rear

nice front calipers

KYB front shocks

brand new tie rods with new ends and boots

hard and soft brake lines

new Ghia TRW master cylinder (the good one)

Tons of new and refurbished stuff, plus 356 rear lights tear-drops plus shine up)

Speedster side trim (real Stoddard stuff, not the cheeziod crap)

Speedster hood trim and crest

Porsche Horn Buttons (different sizes)

genuine 356 gauges

356 threshold plates

Empi threshold plates

drag transaxles (same as a Porsche 930)

highway transaxles

EVERYTHING in this world and the next ! !

Just time to move on here, wanna sell this to people who need it. You know of anyone looking, lemme know, would you?

The guy has had his share of family issues over the past two years, just like me.  We all deal with that in different ways.  I chose to stay on here after realizing that I was losing it, psychologically, (losing both your parents and a brother inside of 14 months tends to mess you up) and chose this forum and some of you people as my replacement "family" to help bring me through it, and I hope I haven't been to much of a pain-in-the-ass in the past year or so (I remember being a dick-head to someone last year and truly regret it).

But I have grown intolerant of some of our so-called, "members", and simply choose to disappear for a while from time to time, rather than put up with them.  Those guys have been mostly absent on here for a while so here I am again.  What Tom does is up to Tom - he has the luxury of doing whatever the hell he chooses to do in his life.

Tom has a vast collection of really good stuff which he wishes to part with for short money, much of it much higher quality than is normally found in these types of parts because he is a fanatic at this stuff and in his life.  If you are looking for something not listed here, email him and ask - he might just have what you are looking for.  It is up to you and he to come to a business agreement to acquire them for yourself.

and as always, Caveat Emptor.......

I've posted this as I said I would, so now the rest is up to you folks who are looking for stuff.  Me?  I thought about maybe a Porsche horn button (he has a couple of them) but decided, instead, for a custom-made, Celtic Knot horn button and maybe get my steering wheel signed by members of the Boston Band calling themselves "Dropkick Murphy".  No silly "Nardi" wheel for ME!

bye.

Hey Gordon ! Stu here, Can you tell me where the signal lite flasher is located on my 2012 Speedster??? Signal lights do light when signal is moved from left to right directional ,but ,light stays on and there's no flashing of the lights to signify a turn on a corner.  Thank you in advance!!!!   Stu.

Thanks for all who replied on my flasher problem  , Gordon your right, its where you said it would be !! And to Ted for the actual replacement I should get ( will the contacts be the same though to fit the speedster ?) and the web page and where to by one "Napa"!   Thanks to all who answered your all Waaaaaaasssoooommmm!!!!!

You're a good man, Gordon, and always have been since the time I joined this site years ago.  It's nice that there is a small core of original members who still hang around here.

My VS came with a two prong (presumably thermal) flasher unit. I still have it and, after peeling back some of the silicon caulk, it's a 552 flasher (see? that's why it's important to save useless stuff). The contacts are marked the same.

You probably should check yours first, though, just in case it's different.

I like the one I linked to because it has a loud click that you can hear over the engine, wind, and road noise.

I have an original (rebuilt by me) flasher from a '69 VW.  It's about the size of a pack of Camel cigarettes and also runs all four lights when used in emergency flasher mode (actuated by the special, Vw e-flasher switch that must have about ten wires going to it - took two nights to figure out how to wire that damn thing, BUT I can turn on the road-side directional lights when parallel parked, just like in Europe...)

I thought it would be cool to get a replacement/spare, so I ordered one (using the original VW part number) from Mid-America years ago and got a 3-tab, can-type jobbie (whereas my original is a 5-tab) with "rework instructions" to make it work.  Baloney!  It's actually easier to rebuild the original one, plus the 3-tab will never work with my emergency flashers...

This is one of those few times I can claim to be a "retro-grouch" like Stan!

Here I am back again crying in my beer guys!

I replaced the old flasher with the one recommended ,and still no directional!!!

Signal lights do come on but no flashing when making a turn. Turn signal light, bottom part of Tac. does not light up as it should when turn signal arm is moved one direction or the other. Rule of thumb usually is if no light is showing ,and no noise from flasher is heard ,signal is not flashing!!!What's next to check please`!!!

SEABSTU

Still no luck with the flasher!!!!):  First am I right in assuming that the small light that shows on the tac. needs to be lit ( First) when depressing the turn signal bar either for a left hand or right hand turn. It does NOT LIGHT UP, so I'm thinking if the light doesn't lite up, the flasher is not even coming in to play at this time.??? I looked at the small light bulb, and it does appear to be ok,I tried a new light bulb ,but still nada. Seems like I am not getting power to the light itself, therefore  no flasher will work anyway????? Ignition, and oil lite ( red) on either side of directional do work ,tac, and light surrounding complete gage (for night driving) also work, but directional (green light ) does not come on!!!!????   SEA-B-STU

Sorry for all your trouble Mango! First of all I am NOT the least bid electric term wise ,or wire wise. I am getting power to my turn signal lights, both front and back!

They do light up when I move the directional arm,but they won't flash, they just stay on steady. I was told by Kirk that the small lite on the tac. ( green light) must come on (before ) the flasher will respond. The small green lite built into the tac. does not lite,so the flasher doesn't know its suppose to work. Tried two flashers to no avail, because no signal is being sent to it to flash. Can't get the small bulb in the tac. to light, tried different bulb, still no power!!

Ok here I am again ,still no turn signals as of yet!!!!

Signal lights do light up but do not flash. Please someone tell me exactly how many wires I should have running to the flasher itself!!!!! I have a two prong 12 volt flasher with THREE wires coming to it . One comes from the tac. the other two I'm not sure most likely the wire harness. One is blue, one is black, and the other is a wire that has black, white ,and green (cross ) marks on it!!????  SEA-B-STU

The two prong is wired as follows:

One side of the flasher has a wire going to the column....this will be the same prong that has the second wire attached to it going to the signal indicator bulb in the tach

The other prong is wired to 12v fused hot, i.e. fuse black or other 12v hot.

Operation:As the flasher is powered by selecting a left or right signal, the flasher heats up and momentray breaks 12v connection hence the light flashes.

Also a three prong flasher has one prong as 12V, second prong 12v out tot the column stalk and the third prong is for the 12v indicator light.

Hey Alan!!! Your the man my man!!!! Wires were on the wrong connector  BUT ,the flasher I was using was no damn good so no matter how the hell I hooked it up it was a mute try! I had the other flasher( new one) and had tried it before ,but had it hooked up wrong. Your clue was" locating the wire coming from the column" and" connecting it to the wire that went to the bulb at the tach." Those two wires then were connected to one prong on the flasher, and the only wire left connected to the only prong left. Alas!!!! BLINKERS!!!!!  Holy ****.Com !!!!  ps. in my case no grounding of flasher need to be done!!

Ok, so I've had several emails and dialogs from people trying to buy parts from TC and they seem to be getting the run-around......hard to contact him, hard to get him to commit parts, hard to get a price or shipment info from him, etc.

I'm truly sorry I put the original post up.  I bought a few things from him and had good luck doing so.  Others, I'm afraid, have not been so lucky so I would suggest you all forget this thread and look for your parts elsewhere.  If I could delete the thread I would do so.

Sorry for the bad tip.  I thought I was being a "good guy" but remember that I was just the messenger, so please stop shooting at me!

Gordon
