Lower or not to lower?

We drove the car yesterday knowing it will be the last nice day until March. We were coming out of Lowes and it just kind of hit me.... It's really tall! I would like to lower the whole car 2". How you would lower the front and rear 2"? It's an IRS rear. Would you use drop spindles ?

Drop spindles will lower the front 2 1/2 inches. They don't come in any other height. If you're set on 2" you'd have to go with the weld-in height adjusters for the beam. (I suppose you could use drop spindles and a 1/2" taller tire too)

For the rear, you can install adjustable spring plates, reindex the torsion bars or both. Reindexing will give you any drop you want in increments of about 7/32". I'm not sure what total amount of drop you can get with just spring plates, they're really more for fine tuning.

if you are looking for opinions - YESSSSS lower it. i love a good dumped speedster.

What size tires? Just going from a 165/80x15" (tradition vintage OEM VW/Porsche size) to newer 185/65x15" will give just over 1" lower stance.

There's a neat vw shop near me. I'm thinking this is a good project for him. I'm scared to go jacking on that plate..

I installed the adjustable spring plates in my car and it's a fairly involved project. If you can afford to pay a pro to do it go for it!

I don't have the time I used to. This seems like a weekend project!!!!!
