I was just referred to this board by Stormbr1nger. Didn't even know it existed, but I'm here from the E23 BMW board. I've had my Speedster since 1990, and one thing that has always bothered me is the raised rear of the car. It looks like if I attempt to lower it at all, the tires will rub on the wheel wells. The builder (who did a beautiful job BTW) ground away some of the flange at the inside of the well to keep it from rubbing, but it really rides high in the rear. Any ideas on fixing it?
Thanks for any and all help.

Ned,

Welcome to the site. I assume you do not have the flared fenders since you didn't mention it. What kind of wheels are installed - offset and diameter? Also, what size tires? My guess is you have the VW pan chassis so one or both of these may be causing the problem. I have the flared version so do not know what sizes you should be running but you might be able to find info on tire/wheel sizes from a past thread in the "knowledge" section.
Thanks for the info, Bill. Now, I have drums all the way around on my Speedster, so do you know if Beck has wheels for drums? Are they 4 1/2" wheels? Also, I've never accessed Beck - do you know what their website is? As long as I'm pointed in the right direction I can take it from there.
Thanks so much for the help. Thanks Michael for sending me here.

Special Edition inc, in the makers portion of the site, is a beck dealer, i'd think they would have at least access to the wheels.
They are standard (5.5?) width. Mine also has drums out back, 4 lug not wide 5. These wheels will not on the front - clearance problems w/suspension. If you look at a Spyder picture, the rear wheel rims are offset ~1.5" inboard when compared to the standard wheel. Look like 4.5" wheels but are 1" wider to the inside. Hope I didn't confuse you cause I sure did me. Gots to go figger out what I just sed.
