lubricating the rubbers..

OK you pervs(not mentioning any west coast pervs)for all the rubber items...door, hood, trunk seals is silicone the best to keep them pliable, maybe armor all or what?

Back in the late fifties/early sixties, Porsche included a little glycerin bottle in the glove compartment. The glycerin was used to keep the rubber pliable.
Today that little bottle is a very collectable item among early porschephiles.
The little booklet that was attached to the bottle is extremely rare.
So, Bob, you could try glycerin...

NEVER EVER use silicon or Armor All if you ever want to repaint anything. You can never get that stuff off,

I would not use Armor All on anything I own...the stuff is crap. For my dry suits I use a product called Seal Saver. You just use a tiny bit and rub it into the rubber...works very well. Try a dive shop or surf shop.

On a semi-related note, I have plastic bumper covers on my Ford F250. They are color matched to the lower belt line paint (beige) and they are looking kinda dry, faded and yucky.

Anybody have a vinyl treatment product that'll make 'em look like new (or at least younger than I am)??

In the 1960's Porsche specifically recommended Glycerine to keep the rubber plyable.

Using Silicone is "BAD" because if you get it on the paint, it stays forever. If you ever need a 'repaint" or paint repair, the paint will not stick to the body.

Auto body shops ban the use of any kind of silicone lubricant when repairing cars just for that reason.
