Huge drum brakes front and rear. These were 5 lugs with 16" or 15" inch rims (4 1/2 - 5 1/2" wide). Drums were forged aluminum with a steel pressed in liner. The outer aluminum drum was heavily finned for cooling. Each wheel had dual wheel cylinders - unlike VW single cylinders. The wide-five wheel with an fake aluminum sheel skin (see fibersteel) gives the old OEM appearance. Disc brakes were not introduced til the C series of 356's post-1963 (thru end of 356 in 1965).
