I have 19mm lug nuts on my 912, (Just had my fuchs polished), thought they would look better shiny rather than black, so I bought 19mm lug nut covers....(plastic chrome) they seem to be a little loose...
Need suggestions on how to keep the covers on my nuts....
I'm thinking silicon...what do you think????

boy, you guys spare no expense when your using my money.....
I'm no piker, and seldom look to save a buck, but as I said already, I
have these covers, and at the risk of sounding cheap, I think I will try to use them, at least temporarily....I do realize the error of my ways in buying them, but its done....
My old nuts were all knarley...I'll look for some fancy ones on line..
by the way....Thanks for the advice
Vince old buddy.......

Getting back to your original question (and just what the hell WAS that question?.....oh yeah:) I had those same covers on a Chrysler Turbo LeBaron and stuck them back on with clear silicon caulk and they held just fine, AND you couldn't tell they were caps. So there.

If, however, you ever spring for a set of alloy lug nuts, speaking from experience here, do what George tells you and get one of those insanely expensive, plastic-lined 19mm "polished alloy lug nut sockets" to prevent marring them.

If you're too cheap to spring for a $40 socket (OK, it was from Griott's Garage - I shoulda known) AND the lugs're black, then just touch up the marrs with a Black "Magic Marker". If they're polished and you marr them, then you shoulda bought the expensive socket in the first place.

I have found the black magic marker puts a bit of a purple tint on the edges of the Fuch's nuts. The black is a bit transparent. I dip mine into my anodizing bath when ever I pull a wheel. I also use a soft socket, 19.99 from EASY a year or two ago. He likes my car and gives me a bit of a break.
"BTW I have a 3/4" thick marble facade on my gas fireplace which is held to the wall with daubs of clear silicon caulk - been there for years and still holding fast!"

Honey . . . what's that crashing noise in the living room? Would you check, please, I'm fixing dinner . . . Honey? . . . Hon? . . . ?
Performnceproducts.com has a huge selection of wheel adapters, spacers, lugs and nuts. They used to sell a wheel nut socket wrench that was padded on the INSIDE, to prevent scratching the polished or painted nuts. They haven't supplied that item for several years. Wonder how you get an accurate torque reading with that little item?

A few other suppliers offer a socket that is padded on the OUTSIDE, like Griot's. Apples and oranges, beware.
