Luggage Rack

What are your thoughts on having a luggage rack or your Speedster or not having one? Just for looks is not a good enough reason to put out that kind of money they are asking for them. My thought is that unless you are going to really use it why have it. It doesn't make the car run any better. Which is better, to have something that makes the car run and handle better or something that makes it look better? Just a thought.

Depends on the amount of chrome on the rest of the vehicle, I think. Does your car have bumperettes?
I'm hiding an interior-accessable compartment where my back seat used to be, and I'm going to cover the front access with canvas and snaps. It might be big enough for a gym bag or a picnic basket -- primarily because I am going minimalist and really don't want to try to make a luggage rack fit into the design scheme.
I like the luggage rack on a car with bumpers, but it's my opinion that they look very silly on outlaw 'verts.
They're not so bad on a coupe, like one of those Enveemos (sp?), but they've usually got chrome on their grilles, window trim and mirrors.
If it's the only chrome on the car ...
Maybe if they were painted to match they'd look okay on an outlaw?

Thanks for the feedback. It makes me feel better that some people have similar thoughts as to SHOW or GO cars. I have been thinking about a luggage rack but now, NO.

Lynx, if it came right down to it I'd toss a duffel bag on the passenger's side floorboard.

The question of, yes vs no, also depends on if you are married...
I am, and if I'm going for an over-nighter, not only do I need a rack I need the biggest rack they make........see my pic's and you will see what I mean....
