The only stainless ones I have heard of, are the ones like mine.

I think Vintage has some new racks for $200 in chrome, that are very similar to the one you are looking at.

You need to check with your builder about any concerns regarding placement with the engine grill of the Vintage unit. I know at one time someone had trouble with the Vintage rack on an original engine grill. It may or may not be a concern.

Stainless will many times double or triple the cost.
Mike,

The 356 AMCOs were made for the 356s and early 9 series during the 50s/60s. The one I owned and then sold when I bought IM's rack was chrome plated and from what I understood from the seller it was all original (never replated). It was in great shape and I liked the flat & square platform of the AMCO on my VS. (I also owned a VS Rack). The VS rack follows the body curve more and is only similar from a distance. An AMCO will give your new 356 an added flair of originality if that is something you are seeking.

One big advantage to the AMCO rack is that it mounts just like other original 356 Racks & Repros, making it interchangable if you decide you want another style. VS mounts in a unique set of holes. The VS is a good rack but for the same money you can get an AMCO.

The price on the AMCOs can be as low as $100 and as high as $300 from what I recall watching E-Bay. I bought mine for $175, in Exc condition.

If you don't need a rack right now, an AMCO should show up on the Bay soon.
