Hi

I am looking for a luggage rack for my speedster replica. They apear to be pretty hard to get hold of here in the UK !. I have emailed a couple of supliers in the states for shipping prices etc.

Can any one recomend a suplier. I am looking for either stainless steel, or good quality chrome that will stand up to the UK climate.

regards

Id did concider that rechroming all the parts would be almost the same cost. as shipping. he is looking a a pricey rack eather way
I still think a dismanted new rack boxed well would the better deal even if you have to put it back together yourself.

I don't have any problems with the other rack except maybe getting smothered. But I must warn you to be more discreate in hope to keep this as a family site.
Barry, "family site", interesting....I thought we were a bunch of car nuts.. you bring the whole family into this??????
Can't imagine any of my kids being interested in any of my computer sites...this is tame compared to what the kids are viewing.....
I'm just trying to add a little lift to an otherwise boring forum.
After all, there is only so much speedster stuff you can talk about.
I guess I've got as boring as Al Gore. Sorry about that.

The last car show I did go to, I had one heck of a pit crew But they wern't even mine.

They cleaned the dickins out of the speester. Without any begging. I was Shocked. I guess Im over compensating.

Carnut Guilty! Old fart guilty!

Racks!like that.. Im a deer in headlights.
I would also check with Henery At Intermeccanica. Im not to happy with what Im seeing in the welds on that VS rack. Plus Id like it better if it had more tie bars across it, to hold luggage .

Also NLA limited offers a Lietz rack at 395.oo and a Reutter rack 295.oo you may want to look at Pricey I know but also offer the leather straps and tie downs. WWW.NLAPARTS.COM

Id at least give it a look see , and compare cnstruction before hand.
The trunk in this picture was not chosen because of looks, it was chosen out of necessity for all my wife's choices in clothing....
"you never know what you are going to need" I believe is the way she put it...My stuff gets thrown in the back seat....
One of these days I will get a hernia trying to lift that damn trunk onto the rack, which by the way seems to hold the trunk just fine..
At least so far....I do suggest however if you are following behind me, don't tail gate, you may end up eating a few pairs of shoes, or better yet some underwear....

They do offfer a chrome one and the 356bs are the ones pictured Both were hammerstone. You must specify size and finish.

Im begining to think I might be better off buildinng a trailer that is shaped like the rear half of my car. One of those tear drop numbers, with a mother inlaw seat. WITHOUT the motherinlaw!

I will admit on my last trip If I had more space More suvoniers would have come home.
The NLA items are quality racks and are the same product that Eleven Parts offers since they are more or less part of NLA. I highly recommend the rack Intermeccanica offers, which is a very close repro Lietz style that uses the same luggage belts, bumper pads, and ski belts that NLA offers. The quality of the rack is top drawer. Use the stand-off kit offered by NLA/Eleven Parts/ or Louis Parras on E-Bay to secure the rack.

The AMCO Rack is a great alternative (see pic under Michael Guthrie ad seeking one). They can be picked up for around $100 needing polishing or chrome or $150-200 VGC and easily store behind the seats when not in use. I had one on my VS after seeing Rick Davis' set-up and it was well built plus it looked good in my opinion. The AMCOs mount in the single grille 356 holes so, Ditto on the stand off kit.

My 2 cents worth.
