My first post as I'm new to the site. I am very confused about the different manufacturers.

I've been doing some searching and couldn't find a solid list of manufacturers, some of the links on the "makers" tab no longer exist.

The most confusing brand and their history is Beck. The Beck cars seem very confusing and if someone could clear things up for me or give me a brief history it would be greatly appriciated. So far for the "Beck" brand name I have heard of Chuck Beck Motorsports (which there is no longer a website for), Beckspeedster.com, beck904.com, and then Chamonix in Brazil. Are these all made by the same manufacturer?

thanks in advance, Aaron (Greensboro, NC)

Carey Hines at Special Edition will probably give you all of the info, but here it is as I understand it.

Chuck Beck originally designed the first Spyder replica. He is a business partner with Kevin and Carey Hines at Special Edition (www.beckspeedster.com). They are also business partners with Chamonix in Brazil, who does the actual manufacturing. Except for custom orders, Spyders are manufactured in Brazil minus drivetrains and with some of the suspension and trim bits packaged inaside the car for shipment. These cars are then either sold in this state to buyers, or finished at Special Edition in Indiana depending on what the customer wants. The same approach is used for Beck Speedsters. these are also designed by Chuck, manufactured in Brazil, and marketed/completed/distributed by Special Edition.

Hope that's correct, and hope it helps. As we say on the Speedster site (www.speedsterowners.com), "Welcome to the Madness!"
Cool thanks for the fast replies! I tried to figure it out yesterday for a few hours but you just summed it all up in a minute.

I found this manufacturer, he had a "brand new" spyder on eBay with a 20,000 starting bid and no reserve. Yesterday the car showed up on completed listings but today it is gone.

Anyone know much about these cars?
They appear to be a distributor for Special Edition's cars. You can usually save some buck$ by going straight to the manufacturer. Contact Carey or Kevin at Special Edition directly if you want new. If you want used, check with Leon (a few posts above) as I believe his is for sale. Nice car with new paint.

The steering wheel on the ebay car is the bsaic Beck leather-covered wheel. There are many choices for upgrades if it doesn't suit you. Again, If you want used, check out Leon's car. It's close (north Georgia), gorgeous, and well sorted. Speak up, Leon.
