IMG_2672IMG_2674IMG_2678IMG_2669I am officially part of the madness. Went last night to check out the speedster. Then again this morning. Funds transferred. Drove her home.

VS built in 2013.

1915cc

4-wheel disc, konis, it has a hidden Bluetooth radio under the dash.

Handled well. Cruised at 70mph easily for the 25mi trip home. Twenty-five miles of smiles all around.

Looking forward to being a part of the madness.

As for the green, it doesn't photo well; but looks MUCH better in person. Wife and I thought we were going to immediately repaint the car. But we think otherwise now.

The funny thing about a 356 shape is that all sorts of colours that you would think are weird colours at the first ... grow on you .... What colour doesn't look good on a 356... not to many.

exactly!

I've got colors that I prefer, but even the ones that at first turn my nose, eventually become winners on a Speedster.

Happy (late) St. Patty's day to you Kevin, I knew the "right"one  would come along, I think you made a good decision!

...and a yellow/black plate, how cool!

Thanks for the welcome. Hoping the car gets in to the garage sooner rather than later. I wasn't planning to get a car so soon, but really grew tired of watching deals slip by. Had to pounce on this one before I regretted it.

The little guy's spyder resides in our garage with our outdoor furniture. It's time the outdoor furniture goes outside.

My kid and my neighbor's kid approve of the new ride.

@@Bob Hampton: we were right with you. I reached out to a few members this week to discuss where to repaint. We felt that at the price point of this car, and if nothing else was wrong, a respray would meet our budget.

But when we saw the color in person, we felt it fit the car. In the photos, it appears like a late 60s / 70s Porsche green. But in person it has that 50s tonal quality.

The only thing that bugs me is the badge on the driver's door. But I'll get over that.

Today my 10 y/o nephew FaceTimed me to see my new fancy car. He was quite excited as I walked him around the car. But then the "millennial" in him came out when he asked what options does the car have?

i told him this is the knob for the headlights and here's the knob for the windshield washers.   He quickly informed me that those were not options.

So i dug a little. I told him in 1957, Porsche was ahead of its time and offered keyless entry on the Speedsters. To which he said, "really?"  I told him there's no door locks, so the car is always unlocked for you.

I also told him I had "express down" windows....since I don't really have windows.

He was unimpressed. So I dug even deeper. I told him the car is equipped with the best security system available today. And to that I showed him the three pedals. He was confused as to why the car had three pedals if one wasn't the e-brake. I told him "see, many now a days don't know either, which is why the car won't get stolen".
