Well, maybe sorta massive.  Weekend after next Alice and I are hosting a cruise and lunch and included will be three Speedsters---that's  massive for Dogpatch, anyway.

Al and Bobbi Shapiro are driving "Ruby" down from MO and we have a new owner here in Hot Springs, Rick Goff who is joining us with his brand new midnight blue VS. joining us.  We will also have a nice Ferarri, a '62 Chevy Chevelle (fabulous show car) and 2-3 other locals with various cars.

Sunday, late morning we will cruise the 70 miles from Hot Springs to Petit Jean State Park Lodge for lunch then tour the huge Rockefeller antique car collection on Petit Jean Mountain.  We'll return to Hot Springs about 4:30-5:00.

If anyone else will be in the area they would be very welcome to join us.

I'll post some pictures after the cruise.

"Ole Red" will have to go back to Carey to cover some of the cost of the coupe.  Besides, I know how far I can push it with the boss.

As for pissing off the HOA, it's not really them.  Local building codes require a minimum separation between buildings for fire safety.  Between that and two really nice trees, I'm a bit limited, but it'll work out.

Does anyone remember what this thread was originally about?

Well, Lane, the BMW Owner's Magazine (The car version) named this drive as one on the top 10 in the entire country a few years ago--it really is spectacular scenery.  Lakes, Mountain, wilderness, and twisties galore as you ascend the mountains to the top where Petit Jean State Park Lodge is located.  Also, Winrock Farms owne by the late Winn Rockefeller.

I make this run every two or three years and it is sensational every time.  . Part of it is where I totaled my BMW R-80 8 years ago.  That was a bit too exciting for me --a lot safer run  in the Speedster!

Bob--banjos---yep.  God's chosen instrument!

John, yes, Sunday Oct 9.  You'd be welcome. Come Saturday and we'll cook out some steaks at my place and get the bluegrass band over for a few numbers.  And John, we are not too far from Bella Vista.  You could caravan back Monday morning with the Shapiros.

Wolfgang---come a day or two early which is what Al and Bobbi are doing and bunk in with us---we have 5,000 SF on lake Hamilton and plenty of guest rooms.  That should make it worth the drive here for you!  We don't need no steenki'n  hotels!

Any others?

Oh---and just how the hell did this cruise announcement veer off into building garages, trading in Lane's Speedster for a coupe, Lane handling his wife concerning a trade with Carey, 4-post lifts, pissing off a HOA and building codes. WTF, guys???

Jack, you know how we are regarding focus, right?

I sure wish I could do that drive, but I roughly calculated that it's at least as far as Carlisle from here, which means it would need to be 4 travel days plus whatever time is spent there.  In other words, a week long trip to be worthwhile and I only have one of those a year in me.  To top it of that is the weekend I'll be at the track.  Ah well.
