Vast majority of parts are stock VW.  You should at least get an engine build sheet with parts/manf used.  Like cam specs (i.e. Engle 110), crank (CWC 69 mm), P&C size (Mahle 88 mm), Heads (CB )43), Carbs (Dellorto 40 mm), Distributor (Bosch 009 w/ Petronics), Push rods (stock aluminum) plus maybe build facts like CR and HP output.

No reason we can't build our own collective Speedster Owners manual!  Even, the CMC build manual has a lot of applicable information to any Speedster.

Lane Anderson actually wrote that Beck manual!  I have seen it and it is wonderful.  I am doing my own manual for my Speedster --right now it's all in folders.  The Book "How to Keep your Volkswagen alive" and the Haynes manuals are indespensable for a Speedster owner.

The IM manuals on our site are really fine too---good info on working with twin carbs.  If you have a type I engine, the IM manual is sweet.

For my engine, Jake provided a comprehensive build sheets and a Type IV book concerning my own engine.

The only thing I use the Vintage manual for is to see which lights are for what in the instruments.

My only Speedster experience has been with Henry at Intermeccanica, and I can't say enough about how he deals with his clients.

The key word in the above statement is "clients" not customers, and that is why these two are so highly regarded.

Amen to that.  Client is a very powerful word.

I hesitate to even post this, because this thread is so long I just skimmed it and did not read all the details.  I see that at least one complaint was about the paint and one of the pictures does appear to show a run, but are you absolutely certain that the other pictures are not just showing left over rubbing compound or wax residue?  That's what it appears to be to me.  Get in there with a microfiber cloth and some detail spray and see if that stuff comes off.  I apologize if that has been ruled out and if that has already been mentioned.

Hi Troy.  I was hoping you would chime in.  Your cars are always so well detailed and sorted!  I will absolutely give that a shot and in certain areas you may be absolutely right...fingers crossed...but i do lnow for a fact in ares like doors etc after talking to a body shop that the paint just doesnt exist.  But again, i do think you may be on to simething with some of this...
