Cory,

I've said this before and I'll say it again and it won't be the last time. In my next life I want to be you. Thanks, brother.

Here's the scoop. Toni and I are just now starting to claw our way out of a business downturn that started more than a year ago and hit bottom this winter. We've just recently landed a couple of good long projects. But we're gonna have to spend March working our butts off to catch up and get this house back in some kind of shape.

I also talked to Danny just last week about finishing the engine work we started (and I dropped) two years ago. He's on the road for most of March. So April looks like it. I mean April IS it. You want to come up then, you're more than welcome. We'll be clear and even have the hot tub (another casualty) up and running again. And we'll have beer and pizza money. And the weather will be more clement.

I WILL have the Speedster at Carlisle this year. I don't care how. It will be there. This finally has to end. It stopped being funny a long time ago. If it ever was.

So if this is Bonanza, is Hoss in on it?

Alan, that was the issue of Playboy you loaned me. I couldn't get that twenty unstuck either. I need to get it back to you.

Cory, S4s are banned too, unless Max's Speedster is there, and Toni is running chase. What I mean is there will be no friggin' Audis driven by that Max guy.....or Hondas either!

Max, we will show up one of these days, real soon, and do the fixin'!

When, though, somewhere around April Fools Day?

I think our cars need another conversation, Max...

No, Vince, they aren't gay. Not even a little!
Max, pay attention. Get your calendar out, and make sure your garage is unlocked April 13 and 14.

We (who are hatching this plan in spite of your best efforts to thwart it) shall require a coffee pot, cigars, barley-pops (not garbage, mind you), your car and probably some Army cots.

We will be bunking in, likely in your garage. We will not be stealthy in our approach, nor quiet while we are working. We shall not be defeated by your old twin enemies the fuel lines and carburetors, and we will bring reinforcements.

Your Speedster knows we are coming. It has marked its calendar already.
DO NOT attempt to open the trap door under the Speedster!

Yes, Max, it's going to happen. And you know Toni is already ready, she's been hoping you'll get that car back on the road so you can get out of her hair!

And Lane, just wait until the Hoopty starts talking shit to Max's Speedster.......cars do talk, right?
You guys working on carbs?

Chris and his friends are all way beyond expert at EFI systems (If you're gonna drag over 700 hp out of a 2.4 liter 4-banger, you get pretty good at EFI) but, on the other hand, they're all mystified by carburetors.

They thoroughly believe that, if you open up a carburetor for any reason whatever, all of the "Magic" drains out and it never works the same ever again.
Hey, Max's car lives! Lenny and I got there yesterday before lunch, and by late afternoon had it running well. Thanks Lenny, Max and Toni! Cleaned the passenger side carb out, set the floats, installed the new fuel pump and filter, fired it up, warmed it up, and dialed it in. Popping back through the carbs, so set the timing at 28 degrees at 3000(thanks Max!). Rechecked sync and idle mixture, and sent Max on his way. See you all in Carlisle!
I wanted to wait a couple of days before saying anything just to make sure it was real. There it was this morning, and it started right up, and so it happened. I wasn't dreaming. It's awesome. My Rip Van Winkle car. It runs better than I can remember it ever running. Yeah, Gordon, it's been a few years. During the afternoon Saturday I ran to Advance (advanced?) Auto for a timing light and had a salesgirl hold up two of them (marked "good" and "best") for me to choose from. The last time I had the Speedster running I wouldn't of stood there with my fly open.

Maybe what's more awesome is having two friends make the trip they did to help me pull my head out. Danny down from Walkill and Lenny, man, all the way from Bristol. Where friends go, you guys are real hall of famers. Thanks. Thanks. Can't say it enough. Can't wait to see you all.

Max
