I had a 1971 Firebird, they are really heavy and the doors are too.
My dad special ordered a white 1970 GTO, back in the day.
It was an auto, my mom had to be able to drive it, but It still had the 400 in it with Cherry Bombs and it rolled on Keystone Klassics.
The sounds it made with those Cherry Bombs is one of the sounds that made me look at cars differently.
The 2nd gen F Bodies were indeed heavy, @IaM-Ray. Learned to drive a stick in my friend's '73 Camaro. It felt fast even with the 2-barrel 350 and wide-ratio Saginaw box. He told me it weighed 3,500 pounds—about 600 pounds more than my Chevy II.
The '70 Trans Am was closer to 3,600, if memory serves.
Dang. $171K, and not even a screamin' chicken on the hood. I remember when $1,710 might have bought that.
