I have been searching high and low for a six-point 18mm spark plug socket that has the rubber plug-grabber inside the socket that would perfectly fit my plugs. The closest I have come is a 3/4 inch 6-point plug socket. The 3/4 one works, but I look fish-eyed at it, just waiting for the thing to start stripping the plug metal. Sears does not carry anything other than what I have in my tool collection. What do you owners use, the 3/4 variety, or is an 18mm available from another source? A regular 18mm is available from Sears for $3, but without the rubber gizmo inside.

if your daring, you can use a just a 18MM deep socket..

Sears/craftman does have them, i found it on the craftsman website.. and it too is only like $4

Do a search for 18MM and look down.. ALOT of stores do not carry everything.. and you'll have to either order it through the craftman catalog or Via the website
Barry,
Want to have some fun? Next time you see a Snap-on or MAC tool truck driving around town, chase him to his next stop. They carry the most amazing stuff and much of what you might need will be inside the truck that day. The odd stuff they can get for you. Ordering online is convenient, but trust me on this, the inside of a Snap-on truck is cool. You'll find things you had no idea you needed! angela
Shoes? Oh my gosh!! I can get two of my favorite things from ONE TRUCK!! I didn't know that, this is the best site ever! You know, the snap-on guys should have a recording they play when they approach, like the ice cream trucks play. ONly it could sound like a dragster engine or something. angela
Karl, the 13/16 is too large. I have a spark plug socket in that size also for some other vehicle I must have owned in the past. The 3/4 is okay, although a bit large. Being so anal, I want the right tool for the job. Kragen sells a 6-point 18mm, but they want almost $9 for it. Sears sells an 18mm deep 12-point socket that will work just fine for $3. I'll try the hose or rubber gas line insert to see how it works. I was going to install my new hex bar this evening, but (wouldn't you know it), I have lost or misplaced half my metric Allen wrenches. Have two sets of SAE Allens, but they are worthless in removing the Allen screws on the hex bar holders.

Hotdawg! Back to Sears in the morning for the correct tools, then back to the garage to change the hexer, pop up the idle jets to #55s and watch the old Spyder run like a scalded dog.....(fingers crossed). The manifold gaskets have been torqued down. Whoever designed the manifold nuts to be so close to the manifold should be given a free vacation at Pelican Bay. If the car fails to run properly, then new manifold gaskets....preceded, of course, by fava beans and a nice Chianti. If I keep up this insanity, I may just run out of GoJo, whereupon my wife will lock me out of the house. C'est la vie!
