When I was a kid in the mid 60's there were some original speedsters that a local guy bought wrecked from insurance companies I believe he picked up six or eight cars that way. He would fix whatever ever needed repair and repowered them with V-dub motors to "make them reliable" is what he said. He would then put them up for sale along Pacific Coast Highway here in CA and my Dad and I would stop and look and I thought they were the coolest looking cars I had ever seen.My Dad always told me he had hurt the cars by taking the original motors out. He definitely had a point there. Anyways, long story bearable when I started seeing replicas appearing in the marketplace I told myself I would definitely have to have one someday. That day is getting close and I am really looking forward to it. Thanks for your kind words.
