Hey guys,

I'm looking for a new mechanic for my Vintage Speedster. The guy I currently go to is nice, but takes FOREVER. My car broke down yesterday - no idea what happened, it just started revving like crazy, and then engine just stopped. No smoke, no fluids coming out. Engine cranks but gas pedal doesn't send gas to the engine. Middle middle green light under the RPM is on.

It needs to be resolved along with some other creaks and updates I'd like to get done (ie. disc breaks and possibly new suspension).

Any personal recs for a great mechanic in West LA would be much appreciated. Thank you!

@RayRay19  here are 2 other options   eric calabrese at motor sports unlimited in simi valley (805) 501 5000.. he is the VW whisperer....another is stuttgard garage  (818) 280 5938   shaun also knows VW   both are over the "405" hill from west LA   so there's that....or  get  " VW for idiots" and start reading and get a set of metric tools and start tinkering....these cars are not BUGATTIS and are reasonable simple and basic once you you understand them...best of luck and happy motoring

Thanks for the responses guys, I really appreciate it - still looking for some more "local".

As much as I love the idea of working on the car myself, I know myself, and that would just be a disaster.

Other than engine issues, do you think I can take the car anywhere good to add the disc brakes or update the suspension? Or should it be a VW guy? I need to find the thread about the best disc brakes for our cars.
