Mechanics in the S.F. Bay Area?

I am about to buy a Vintage Speedster! I am excited! Does anyone know of a reputable mechanic in the San Francisco Bay Area that works on these vehicles?

I'm interested as well. Live in Danville, but would drive anywhere in the bay area if they were reasonably priced and good.

Thanks for the heads up about the shop in vallejo! Have they been in business long?

Edwardo at Fremont Foreign Auto on Mowery. Very good, honest, doesnt do/charge you for unnecessary work. Has been mechanic for our '79 911 for last 8 yrs. My car will go there when it needs any work done.

My choice is Greg's VW in Redwood City. Great guy does all the work himself and really knows his stuff.

There are a couple in San Ramon that I have used and been quite satisfied with for my past 911SC, 914's and 924T. I have not taken my CMC replica to them yet but plan to do so in the near future.

Honest Bill is quite the character and may take more time to do the work than you expect. However, he really knows air cooled engines (hates Porsche water cooled) and has done great work for me. We colaborated in building a realnice type 4, 2.0 liter for one of my 914's. He is located at the very end of Bollinger canyon Road, just before it becomes parklank.

I have been going there for about 10 years and though I can't remember the hourly shop rate I don't remember getting shocked while reading my bill. I'm sure if you tell them I referred you they will take care of you. What do you need done?
