That's a very fair price for a new VS at an auction which sometimes causes the price to get inflated .  I paid $24,000 for mine with 700 miles on it and the original owner bought it new from a reseller (Automotive Legends) for a whopping $27,017.

usually it's  better to buy from the mfg or get a sorted Merklinized Speedster.

Hi Tom.
The link I'm seeing says to see the sold price you need to sign in to the Mecum InfoNet, but it doesn't actually say that it sold.  My brother recorded it and I watched it with him and I would swear that it made it to $23,500 but the reserve was not met and it didn't sell.  I was pretty tired at the time, so maybe I'm wrong, but that is what I recall.  There was a lot of discussion about how the price of original Speedsters was driving the price of the replicas and that Vintage was one of the best builders.
