Just noticed my tail light lenses are slightly melted. Can anyone suggest a good quality LED bulb they are using or another way to fix this problem?
Also where can I find replacement lenses?

I put in Sylvania led bulbs in the tail lights. They fit well inside the lenses and produce a nice clean light at lower temps than incandescent. I picked mine up at Pep Boys, but I see them at Auto Zone and other parts stores. I am going to switch out the front turn signal bulbs too....
Other members had the same problem and it was because the incandescent bulb sat too high in the housing and was too close to the lens this melting it. You should be able to lower the bulb base which results in lowering the height of the bulb in the housing.
As far as replacements, who built your Speedster? If it’s an IM contact Henry, contact Carey if it’s a Beck, and contact Greg Leach at Vintage Motorcars or Justin at Vintage Speedsters if it’s a Vintage.
This is my fix, these twin filament bulbs have the same base as a 1157 but a smaller glass globe so that there is more space between the bulb and the plastic lense.

I think my car is a CMC/Fiberfab but the form members think it’s a vintage speedster. I was looking at the bulb socket, It looks like a press fit. I don’t see how I can lower the bulb socket without damaging it.
The short bulbs will work w/o changing the socket height

Everything you ever wanted to know about this topic- melted beehives, adjusting bulb housing depth, and LED bulb option vs small globe bulb options recommended by Allan and a few others... with plenty of pictures over the two page thread... so many choices... welcome to the madness!

I just want to thank everyone for all the input and advice its really helped me out a lot.
MUSBJIM (Jim Ignacio) and I have gone the easy route and installed replacement 1156 and 1157 bulbs (what you have in there, now) but with LEDs. I think they cost something like $20 for the four of them at Autozone. Get some that glow Red (it says on the package what color they are; white, amber or red). They never get hot to the touch so they'll never melt your plastic lenses. They fit within the lens enclosure just fine.
I just read the reply from Vintage Motorcars. Talk about customer service, these guys are amazing! , a set of lenses for free. They deserve all the support we can give them.
@JB356SR these are the LED replacement bulbs @Gordon Nichols mentioned. Found at any Auto parts/accessory store. About $20 for pkg of two.
Hope this info helps.
I use these as well, they work fine and are much brighter than the incandescent bulb. They will also hyper flash on directional s if you don't change the flasher relay. I left it alone as I feel the hyper flashing will help wake up a texting tailgater.
I need to apply for a Federal Grant so that I can discover why when other people post a valid solution such as the bulbs that I suggested no one listens to a proven method. Use the short Globe bulbs I suggested above and be done with it this isn't rocket science Kelly?
A builder said tha in this madness most men want to make it (the car) perfect and agonize on every step

He didn't say what method he chose to use to solve his problem; he just thanked everyone for their help. Maybe he did use your suggestion.
@Alan Merklin hahaha no need to do all the paperwork for the federal grant! I have spoken to him and we are sending him the smaller bulb(which creates more distance, just like you suggested!) and replacement tail light lenses. This has been a problem before and we found those bulbs a fee months ago and we have also had much better luck with them.
