The description is a little inaccurate - Nardi wood wheel, dash badge, etc.
He also doesn't actually say it is a replica.

Maybe Hollywood will buy it for some female superhero..............
Wow, the car has grown two cylinders and a carburetor since it left Alan's hands. Maybe the price isn't so far off when you consider the hocus pocus that has taken place in the interim.
I'm thinkin' whoever typed in the price is a bit dicklexic. Got the 5 and the 2 reversed.
Hey Al, will ya do some work on Blackie? I wanna list for 35k. :)

I called the "Marketing facility" this evening and gave the clowns there a polite heads up to the auction test BS this to no avail.
I'll suggest that multi low ball offers be placed by others herein.

They added invisible 356 Speedster style front and rear bumpers too (without over-riders though). Amazingly creative advertizing hype!

Aren't those YOUR pictures, Alan? Like in your front yard?
Alan,
I think the car looked better when you owned it. The ad has a greasy quality----not very slick. just greasy---like a thief

Yup my front yard & my pics.
The speedster's current owner called me today, seems he is getting sh*t from potential buyers..hmmmm and I wonder why?
He asked me to talk with the "the nat'l auction marketing people" that are hawking his car for 2x the money he paid me.
Yeah, sure ....just 52k for a car that doesn't come close to matching the discription. I don't realy care what he does with the car but to bamboozle a potential buyer is just wrong.

THIS GUY BOUGHT YOUR CAR THINKING HE COULD SELL IT FOR MORE THAN U WERE ASKING?

I didn't look at the ad with a magnifying glass, but I don't recall seeing anyplace it mentions it is a "REPLICA". That strikes me as missleading at the very best and false advertising too......imagine the happy buyer who thinks he just got a 356 Speedster outlaw for $52k?
It does say in the ad that the body is fiberglass....and we do live in a free enterprise system, so they can ask anything they like...
...caveat emptor!
Now he's narrowed down the description to just color and drivetrain.
Geez! Now he's lowered it to a more "reasonable" 36k. :)

Bill - you should buy it.
Then you'll have cars that look like salt and pepper shakers.

Evertime I see that eBay ad I hear the Easy Rider song:
"Don't Bogart that joint my friend, pass it over to me" ~Alan

Hmmm... Jerome sold his car to a resident of Harrisburg, didn't he? Bill, what aren't you telling us?
EDIT: Never mind. I read the thread about the sale to a fellow named "Jan", if that's his real name ;-)

This week's "seller" is the guy that bought it from me. ~ Alan
That's weird. I wonder if he had a "money-back guarantee" that the guy who bought it from him made use of.
Ohhh - a seller rating of zero - that raises RED flag to me when bidding! Surprized overseas buyer didn't jump on it. With their exchange rate its now 1/2 price!

Hot damn, Alan! He's using pictures of your yard, too! You gonna get a check for that?
And I love the bit about how rust-free it is. What'd you make it out of? Fiberglass?

As somebody in a Die-Hard movie said, "The quarterback is TOAST!"
Less than halfway to what Alan got for the car, still using Jersey tag photos from Alan's yard ... It's here again, folks! Looks to me like the seller is going to be taken hard for yardage!
This time, the body style is being described as a coupe.
I'm glad this guy's an informed seller.

Alan---that rtealy IS a great looking car! I see that it says that it does not leak--true? If true---how did you do the top bow to seal it? n nAlso if true about the body not leakomg---what things can you share about tricks you used to seal it?
I still have the pix of your great side curtain holders you let me take in Carlisle.
Thaks for any info---Jack
I've been playing around with this guy asking him questions.
First he claims to have owned it for a few months.
He does not know any details about the car, nor can he give me any additional pictures.
In one e-mail he claims to be in NY with the car and the next he says I'll have to wire hime the money in Miami.
It's a scam, anytime a car goes up in value thease guys try to pull a scam. My bus is one of the most known type 2s out there. I ran a auction on e-bay, it did not sell. With in 12 hours there was another auction up and two adds on craigslist and one on the samba. The only reason I found out is that people started calling me and telling me I was crazy to let it go for so little (they had listed it for less then half what it pulled on e-bay. The funny part is they used all the pictures from e-bay. It's sad there are soo many scammers out there.
BEWARE!!!!!

I wrap the top vinyl around the bow then set the weather strip over that is does keep the water out.
The currect seller is a large land developer he owns seven malls in Long Island ( I checked him out when he wanted to buy the car from me..the ebay seller ID name is his company name on W35th St.NYC.)He doesn't know anything about the car because he thought he was buying a 911 ! ( I kid you not ) ......Still buyer beware Alan
