Hello everybody. I was just checking my oil transmission for the first time tonight. It was changed last summer by a local aircooled volks guy (http://www.atmbenoit.com/)

To be fully honest I NEVER in my whole life worked on a transmission. So this may be nothing but I just want to check with the group to make sure I am not overlooking something ;->

So, with the car leveled I removed the trans oil filler plug. I have oil right at the level of the filler hole so that passed the test. Then I Stuck my trusty inspection camera in it ... all looking clean and nothing obviously wrong ... all good except their is a little amount of metal shaving on the filler plug magnet.

How much is normal, acceptable or bad ... I have no idea. So I am reaching out to the community to enlighten me :->

See picture

Thanks

jc

As everyone has said, you have (literally) nothing to worry about. If you'd ever seen new gears you'd be amazed at how well that magnet works, and keeps all those filings out of all of the gears and bearings. I've seen (and I'm sure other here have to) drain plugs so covered with metal fuzz that it looks like an afro.
