I just rebuilt one of my Weber 40idf carbs and used a composite gasket from the intake manifold to the head. I know my other carb has a metal gasket and I am curious if I need to change to the composite . Is it worth the effort or not?

I use fiber i.e. gasket material gaskets only, you can see the imprint of the sealing surfaces if, you should have an issue. I never felt that the metal gaskets do the job as well.
Would you advise changing both to composite?
I wouldn't bother changing the other at this time unless you feel you may have an issue.
Alan, thank you for your fast response.

If you find the carb with the metal gasket underneath getting too hot- change to the composite.
