Bob, just for info, how did you find that out? I have lots of old magazines with the metalcraft ads in them, but very little detail. Couldn't find any technical info for Metalcraft on the internet, that surprised me.
Last century (1990) when I picked up my chassis from Metalcraft, Bob Sweat told me that he used a '78-'84 VW Rabbit steering column which was shortened 3" as a $245 add-on option. Bob was the president and chief designer at Metalcraft. I guess I just assumed the rack and pinion assembly was also the same vintage origin...I did not ask and Bob did not offer that info. He did tell me that the rear hubs were Mercedes, the fronts were VW and Porsche 914 Type 3 brakes were used on both.
