They are made at fiberglass plant in Ensenada. The owner is a very close friend of Kirk. Kirk owns the molds and will not produce bodies off those molds for anyone else without Kirk's approval. In fact he does produce bodies for other makers off the molds, but only with Vintage's knowledge and backing.
If you ask Kirk he will tell you about the plant, the owner, etc. It's not a secret.

I don't care if my Vintage Speedster's body came from the moon, I love it!! It is now 18 months old and looks as good as the day I bought it---it has zero ripples like some fiberglass bodies will show and the seams are 100% perfect.

Kirk has always been smart about sourcing parts and looks for the highest quality at a smart price point. I recently heard that he has switched from Kadrons and Scat's Solex P40's to the smaller Webbers (34s?) and that's what you get with a new VS today---Webbers.

My earlier post was just being curious and certainly not judgemental about where the VS bodies come from.

To further clarify Darren's point about John and Kirk both using Mexican bodies, in 2002 John told me they were both using the exact SAME source (in Baja) for their bodies. Had been ever since the Air Quality Board chased all the fiberglass manufacturers out of California. That is why the custom boat industry, that used to thrive in Costa Mesa and surrounding cities, is totally gone today.

Hmm, let's see, the government told 'em all to go green, and all the jobs went to Baja . . . hmmm. . . but that is another thread.
thanks David for the clarification.

When I was restoring my speedster(now markos speedster) John was having a hell of a time with his coupe being made in mexico and parts not fitting right. Needless to say John is a quirky guy and I got an ear full everytime I went to check on my interior.

There is nothing wrong with the mexican made bodies. Hell for arug sake Florida made bodies had poorer quality then both Johns and kirks. So go figure!
