Nolan-used to work in East LA (Mexican-American). If you've ever been invited to a family get-together there, you'll understand what family love is and what real food is all about.
As far as Speedsters go, I'm under the impression that quite a few fiberglass companies are located over the border. Quality is good and no OSHA and smog and compliances here and taxes there...tu sabes?
Ten years ago both JPS and Vintage were getting ALL of their bodies from Ensenada, Mexico. That is where mine was made. Years earlier, the EPA had effectively chased all the Los Angeles suppliers south of the border. LA used to have a huge custom boat (hot rod type "river cruisers") industry, and the Clean Air Act of 1970 slowly closed most of the local emissions-intensive fiberglass manufacturing sources down.

Don't know if that is still the case today. I would guess it is. If so, the bodies at least could be from the same (or splashed) sources.
I have seen 2 of the Mexican made cars here in Houston area (unfinished). They were pretty rough to put it nicely. They certainly did not compare to "kits" offered by Special Editions for example, or those offered long ago by Classic Motors etc.

I would recommend a lot of caution. I would be hard pressed to go South of the boarder with the purchase price of a Speedster in cash in my pocket and hope to come home with a car.....or come back at all....
