That's pretty cool news!
It mentioned that Bruce is 94.
IIRC, his wife still ran their website until a few years ago. When I had my Manx, I called about getting a replacement hood ornament (you had to prove you actually had a real Manx) and his wife answered the phone.
For all of you "Newbies", we had Bruce and Winnie as our honored guests at one of the Carlisle gatherings that I organized. I was bowled over when I contacted them through Winnie at their business and he agreed to come to our dinner and talk to the group - He was a great speaker, too!
I got into Dune Buggies in the late 1960's and Bruce was an idol to me and I was really tickled to meet them both. That was almost ten years ago and I remember he was about 85 ten, but you'd never know it to meet him. Terrific couple!
This is good news on so many levels - It's just "right".
This sounds great news, on many levels. During Covid times, a lot of our priorities have changed, our values have shifted slightly and we’re now enjoying, or at least appreciating more, the smaller pleasures in life. in the UK, much like the US, there has long been a ‘live to work’ mentality but I feel it is changing slightly (over in the UK, at least) to more of a work to live mentality much like the French and Italians.
So, like our Speedsters and Spyders, Beach Buggies (as they’re known in the UK) have grown in significance. In the UK maybe not so much, because the changeable weather and lack of dunes are not so amenable for buggies, but nevertheless there is a growing contingent of fans for ‘frivolous’ vehicles - buggies and our French option, the Citroen Mehari (based on the 2CV).
Sounds like good news for both Bruce and Meyers Manx. A definite thumbs up from me. :-)
