Mid America Motorworks Funfest for Porsche 2005

The show is on June 11-12th in Effingham, Illinois. Assuming all goes well with my car and I have it, I plan on going this year. Anyone else??

EFFINGHAM, IL -More than 500 Porsches and 2,200 Porsche enthusiasts celebrated Mid America Motorworks' 6th annual Funfest for Porsche, June 5-6.

The weekend "customer appreciation party" featured a caravan of 60 Porsches traveling through the scenic back road areas around the company's Effingham, IL campus on Saturday afternoon. The one-hour road trip ended at the historic art deco Heart Theater in downtown Effingham where Mid America Motorworks sponsored a free showing of the famed race car movie, Le Mans, staring Steve McQueen.

As part of the Funfest celebration, Mid America Motorworks arranged for 13 rare and exciting Porsches to be displayed at the MY Garage Museum. The display included the only legal 959 in the United States, courtesy of the Bob Ingram Collection, and a new Carrera GT, on loan from Porsche North America.

During Funfest for Porsche, 30 cars, 15 on each day, were selected as trophy winners in the Fun Display car judging. The award winning cars were selected by the celebrity judges at Funfest for Porsche.

New this year were special "ladies only" events including a day spa and scrapbook classes.

Obviously, since mine is just a lowly replica I won't be really in the hunt for a trophy, but it should be a lot of fun!!!

Since mine is Porsche powered, I plan to attend.

What about "Porsche complex"? I do not want to be treated as a second class citizen.

Who cares about Porsche Complex!!!!!!! I love the cars, the real ones and the replicas. I think we will have at least 4 or 5 if not more replicas there so thats more unity then you will find anywhere else in this large group. If you can handle not getting recognized with an award this should be a good show.

I now have a show in April, May and June. I'm going to do the show circuit this year and then probably only go to the Knotts or Carlisle shows each year after that.

I guess you are wright Steven.If I am done with my engine by then, I will be there for sure.

Hi we plan on going it is a lot of fun, Mike Yeager does a great job of making this a good time for all. We have been real lucky with our Carrera 911 being picked twice for the awards in 2002 and 2003. In 2003 Porsche Cars North America made it there choice, then Mike picked it as a president choice, so in 2004 we got to have it in the museum during the show, next to some beautiful cars. Effingham is a great place plenty of motels to choose from, in all price ranges. We stay at the Best Inn Motel, pool, clean rooms and food close. Let us know and we can meet in St. Louis for the drive over. We have never had problems with the speedster there it is a fun show not a concourse type. However we did have problems with the speedster at his VW show one week later from the VW people go figure...... Shelby

Not likely in June- that's when I make the donuts to pay for this habit. Seriously, late May, June, and July are especially difficult to get away, as it is the extremely busy time of year for my business. I'd love to come, but no promises I can't keep...

Its only Saturday and Sunday???? You can do it!!!! Heck if you have an emergency call you could always go back??

But I do understand, I put in vacation request for Knotts and Carlisle and this show. Everything was approved except Knotts. It looks like we have a couple of guys going to training that week and he can't let me go. Unless it looks slow when we get a little closer then he will cut me loose!!!!! I'm still thinking I will make knotts.
