Alan,
I stopped by the park with my daughter around 11:00. Didn't have my Speedster there but it looked like a great event. Wished I had the whole day free so I could have brought my ride and joined them.

Saw maybe 8-9 cars and got to match faces to lots of the people I see posts from on this list. Great bunch of guy. Wished I had time to meet and talk with all of them but I only had about an hour to spare.

Nice variety of cars too. Mostly standard body Speedsters, 2 flared and I think 2 Cabrios. I took a bunch of photos and will post them to my folder now, check "Heirloom" for event photos.

Worked a little on my car today. Painted my wheel centers black to look more like Porshce wheels and sprayed the drums aluminum to look like early Porsche models too. I like the look alot better now and although my car sits pretty high I think it improved the overall look by making it seem a bit lower as the wheel line is broken up a bit.

Well, we all just got released on our own recognisance. But we had a great time. I believe the rain date affected attendance somewhat but 9 cars came. A really nice Envemo cabriolet attended. My first real look at one and nice it was. We got screwed up a little on the cruise, but ended well. Traveled a nice scenic route that included some nice twistie turnies. I had a ball. We ended up at E.W.Becks Pub for some "refreshments" and snacks in Sykesville. The town is a rustic railroad junction and was like driving into a time capsule.
On the somewhat down side, the PertronixII unit I installed prior to the trip didn't fare so well. I noticed Thurs. nite after installing it that it had a miss or somthing. Like someone tapping on a kill switch on a bike. You could see the tach dropping for a split second off and on. I was ready to turn back after starting the trip but it got a little better and we continued. Put about 100 miles on it and when I was leaving my nephew's home in Sykesville, that sucker when up in smoke big time.
Acrid brown smoke pouring from the disty. Lucky I had the Pertronix1
unit in the bag so in 15 minutes I was on the road again and got the whole way home no problems. Uh, I think I got a bad unit. But alls well that ends well.

We had a great time! Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a fun day. We lucked out with a gorgeous day on our rain date. 9 cars made the meet, lined up for photos, cruised the countryside and enjoyed some refreshments at Beck's Pub in historic Sykesville, Maryland. We had three new owners to the scene - Mitchell Plapp in his Envemo 60 Cabriolet, Lewis Martin in his Vintage (purchased in June) and Chuck Heath (driving Corey Drake's ride). Longest distance driven (except maybe for the people who got lost) was Stacey Campbell from Williamsburg, VA.

A few funny moments when the start of the cruise turned into an episode of the Keystone Cops. It took about an hour but we got everyone back together and did better the second time.

Everyone agreed to be at Carlisle in May - I'm gonna hold you to it guys!
