I see a Sam's Club at that location, should be plenty of parking for this mob.
Not that one...

Should have clarified... The other location is small and packed in a strip mall.. Not so hot for a cruise...
The location I listed above is much better for our purpose... Tons of parking!! Good food!! Everyone will enjoy it.

Guys, I was just at the Willow Knolls location today. It is in a large shopping center, more room than we would ever need, pretty good visibility of the cars. The one on University I will cruise tomorrow to see.
Stan, the Willow Knolls Maid-Rite is in the shopping center with the Sam's Club,Kohl's and the theatres as reference. off Hwy 150 behind the row of restaurants, Olive Garden, etc.

I lost track of which day this is happening. I am in anyway as I need somewhere to drive.

Thursday, June 21st is good for me.
Thurs., 6/21 is good for me as well. But then, I'm retired, so whatever works.
Marty and Joe - If you guys are going, possibly we can travel together and hook up along I-39. Just a thought.
Hey bob, had a chance to look at the 50s diner in the metro center? Thoughts?
Steve, sounds good. Joe and I can take 47 south to 71 SE to 80 west and meet you in north Lasalle/Peru. Nice country drive. Bump.. we also have to run down scenic highway IL-26

Marty---Sounds like a plan. We can firm up the details as the date gets closer.
I'll be heading down that direction from Wisconsin. Meetcha in Rockford and then onto infinity and beyond. Well, Peoria, at least.

Sounds like a winner.

I will need to cut out on Friday, we are leaving for a family vacation the 23rd. Can't wait for the cruise to Peoria.
I can't wait for this meet... It will be so nice to see other cars and actually put faces to names! I would love to go to a coast even't but im not sure I'm ready for a trip that far in my little speedster yet... lol... I sure hope we have a great turnout! Looking forward to meeting everyone from the midwest!!!
We will be in Mexico that week.
I have reached out to a couple of other Speedster owners in and around Peoria as well. Asking for ideas on cruise routes, tech activities etc. Ideas? Suggestions?
Just wondering where this whole thing is going. I thought it was basically a Cory Pit Stop...it seems to be ramping up to Woodstock proportions. Not that that is a bad thing, just wondering how many pairs of cut-off jeans I should be packing.
Me too, but good to have options. May be just a meal and a chance to look at other cars. Maybe that plus a cruise, may be more for those interested. We have somewhere between 4 and 6 Speedsters here in the Peoria area. Add in maybe another 5 or 6 or ?? and you have a nice gathering and lots to look at.
Thought it would be a nice idea to line up options for anybody interested, particularly for you guys that are making a long drive to get here.
Nothing set in concrete Rich, just trying to be a good psuedo host no matter how this comes off.

It is essentially a stopover for me. Im passing through to St. Louis with an overnight in Tremont with Stan and his family on the 21st.
Nice, in our backyard. I wouldn't miss it!
If Thursday the 21st is good, we'll make it work. Who's in?
Me
I'm planning on making the trip.........
Rich?
Once you see the bright lights of Peoria, it'll be hard to go back to wherever you come from. I'll try to do this right.

If all goes right, I'm in. You know, the bright lights aren't the attraction, large corn fields get me excited.

I'm in.
Rich- If corn's your thing, we're your huckleberry. Prepare to be in awe.
Even our cars run on corn!
Have we figured out lodging for the 21st?
What do you need help with, Joe?
Is there a hotel in the Peoria area we are booking for the night of the 21st. I need to take off Friday morning, leaving for a family vacation Saturday.
Joe:
Plenty of hotels in Peoria/East Peoria.
East Peoria, across the Illinois River from Peoria, the side of the river that Stanistan occupies, there is an Embassy Suites, a Hampton Inn, next to a floating gambling casino with it's own hotel the Par-A-Dice, and several others.
The Peoria side has probably a couple dozen moderately priced places. If you are looking at one night, reasonable, try one of the three or four places around the Grand Prairie Mall.
Candlewood Suites: 309-691-1690
Country Inn & Suites: 309-589-0044
Hampton Inn & Suites: 309-589-0001
Wingate (Wyndham): 309-589-0033
These are all around the Mall, near the junction of the 474/74/6 highways. Lots of restaurants around and in the Mall, and a straight shot out the 474 to the 55 to Stanistan. (20 minutes or so).
Anybody decides to stay there, let me know. I am 5 miles northwest of there and can meet up to caravan, have a meal the night before, provide road side assistance or directions.

Personally, I wasn't planning on an overnight; however, forgot about the gambling boat which can definitely sway my decision............

Any contribution you choose to make to the local economy is much appreciated.

My plan would be to hopefully leave town with more than I came with, but we all know how that works........

Sure, sure -- Show up in a Speedster you may be $20-$95K into, depending, gamble for a couple days and then leave on a $300,000 ... that's "Winning," right?
Or end up leaving on a bus........
OK, so we're less than two weeks out. I'd love to get a head-count on who's planning on coming, so I can solidify some plans.
Figure on a late lunch at a central meeting point in the Peoria area. I'd like to plan a cruise/drive through what we've got for back-roads and scenic places on both sides of the river. We'll ultimately end up back at my place, and the whole thing will break up just after dark so guys can get back to where they came from or to hotels. June 21 is the longest day of the year, so daylight lasts 'till 9 or so.
It should be a good time. Who's in for sure?
In, as you already know.
