Guys, I was just at the Willow Knolls location today. It is in a large shopping center, more room than we would ever need, pretty good visibility of the cars. The one on University I will cruise tomorrow to see.

Stan, the Willow Knolls Maid-Rite is in the shopping center with the Sam's Club,Kohl's and the theatres as reference. off Hwy 150 behind the row of restaurants, Olive Garden, etc.

Me too, but good to have options. May be just a meal and a chance to look at other cars. Maybe that plus a cruise, may be more for those interested. We have somewhere between 4 and 6 Speedsters here in the Peoria area. Add in maybe another 5 or 6 or ?? and you have a nice gathering and lots to look at.

Thought it would be a nice idea to line up options for anybody interested, particularly for you guys that are making a long drive to get here.

Nothing set in concrete Rich, just trying to be a good psuedo host no matter how this comes off.

Joe:

Plenty of hotels in Peoria/East Peoria.

East Peoria, across the Illinois River from Peoria, the side of the river that Stanistan occupies, there is an Embassy Suites, a Hampton Inn, next to a floating gambling casino with it's own hotel the Par-A-Dice, and several others.

The Peoria side has probably a couple dozen moderately priced places. If you are looking at one night, reasonable, try one of the three or four places around the Grand Prairie Mall.

Candlewood Suites: 309-691-1690
Country Inn & Suites: 309-589-0044
Hampton Inn & Suites: 309-589-0001
Wingate (Wyndham): 309-589-0033

These are all around the Mall, near the junction of the 474/74/6 highways. Lots of restaurants around and in the Mall, and a straight shot out the 474 to the 55 to Stanistan. (20 minutes or so).

Anybody decides to stay there, let me know. I am 5 miles northwest of there and can meet up to caravan, have a meal the night before, provide road side assistance or directions.

OK, so we're less than two weeks out. I'd love to get a head-count on who's planning on coming, so I can solidify some plans.

Figure on a late lunch at a central meeting point in the Peoria area. I'd like to plan a cruise/drive through what we've got for back-roads and scenic places on both sides of the river. We'll ultimately end up back at my place, and the whole thing will break up just after dark so guys can get back to where they came from or to hotels. June 21 is the longest day of the year, so daylight lasts 'till 9 or so.

It should be a good time. Who's in for sure?
