Does anyone here happen to know the specified minimum thickness of the Empi style wide-five (aka "heavy") disk brake rotors? I am told this specification may be needed for the Spyder's inspection tomorrow and I can't find it online.

According to the inter web, the minimum thickness should be stamped on the face of the rotor:
Not likely to work with an EMPI rotor, Robert. They aren't vented, and I doubt there IS a spec (because: EMPI).
I can't imagine they can be turned at all, Ed-- so I'd say the minimum thickness is whatever they are out of the box, that or make something up. I cannot imagine this would be an actual box to tick on the form.
I don't know about Empi discs, Ed, but new stock Karmann Ghia rotors are 9.5 mm (.374") thick with the factory wear limit being down to 8.00 mm (.315"). This is out of the orange Bentley manual (Beetle, Super Beetle, Karmann Ghia 1970 >, Brakes and Wheels, pg 38.
Hope this helps. Al
That helps immensely, thanks to you both. I never saw a stamp on the rotors but I didn't look for one and they all have the light surface rust that comes from being unused for a decade-plus. I'll tell the inspectors to check for a stamp and if ther isn't one use the Ghia Spec which is 8mm.
I may find it in the Bentley and bring a copy of that just to look like I know something.
